Went to Mike's and had a great experience. Bought feel free kayaks for the whole family. My wife really like her Nomad and my kids Love their Roamers! Took em all out last weekend and didn't hear a single compaint the entire time we were on the water!!!!! I got the Lure 11.5 and I absolutely love it. I did a lot of research before I bought, and for the money the Lure 11.5 is the best bang for the buck by far. I was even standing up in it fishing. The seat is the best out there and I know I made the right decision. Thanks Mike, Patrick, and the rest of the crew that I didn't catch your name. I really appreciate the customer service and the value that we got from Mike's. Ill be back for some other accessories soon!

Long story short- They did well with the tune up for our bikes, but customer service at this place is LACKING, and disappointing. I expected a small business in a small town to know customer service well. They failed to meet my expectations by losing the information for my bike and the service it needed. They had no clue why the two bikes I dropped off were there or who the bikes belonged to. They did work on the bikes the day the problem was discovered, but how did this happen in the first place? THE STORY: I recently dropped off two bikes to have tune ups at Mikes hike and bike. I called before I dropped them off and was told they would be ready in a week due to a high volume of customers around EKU back to school. I was fine with that. When I got to the store with the bikes I was told it would be about 4 days, even better! A week went by and I hadn't received a phone call about my bikes. Once we called we found out the bikes had been misplaced in the store along with the repair ticket instructing them to do a tune up. They also hadn't started the tune up yet. We also found out the bikes are stored outside during the business day. It is under a covered area, but still able to be exposed to elements if it rains hard enough. The employee argued with us that rain can't get to the bikes, but the moisture in the air could, and if the wind is blowing, rain could get in that area. We were upset that they had lost the information, had we not called the bikes wouldn't have been finished, they lost our contact info too( it was on the repair ticket). When we got there the employee didn't have a lot of experience with customer service, he also didn't really seem to know what was going on there at the store, or anywhere really. He didn't know what had been done to the bikes, and could barely state what is involved in a normal tune up. Mike had worked on my bike and was able to tell me what he did, which saved what could be from the experience. We got our bikes, checked them out, and paid for the service. The tune-up was great, really the customer service was the bad part.

Mikes Hike and Bike is an amazing resource for Richmond. He is super knowledgeable, incredibly kind and easy going, and orders gear that he personally stands by, and is tested and true. He specializes in "the most bang for your buck" merchandise so you know you are getting good quality and a reasonable price. He is quick to help you with a repair and even offers a shower station for your bike and DIY station to tune it up. He is just a really great guy and I've been blessed to have him for my local bike/outdoor supplier for the past 4 years. Check him out...his store that is!
