Story

Mill Creek is a district in Downtown Bakersfield, California. It is primarily a mixture of residential and commercial on the east side of downtown. Since the mid-2000s, the district has gone through major redevelopment. These included, the development of the Kern Island Canal into a walking path (also called Mill Creek), the redevelopment of Central Park, construction of the Federal Courthouse, and construction of several new housing and commercial developments.Prior to the 2000s, this district did not exist, and was generally referred to simply as "part of downtown." When the project was being developed, it was discovered that a mill used to be located on the Kern Island Canal in the new district. It was decided to name the new district "Mill Creek" after the mill.Points of interestBakersfield Museum of ArtBeale Memorial LibraryCentral Park or Mill CreekFederal CourthouseTransportationThe Bakersfield Amtrak Station is located in the district. Beautiful area. But if you want to be safe don't go there. I couldn't even take my daughter to the restroom without walking in on 2 druggies having sex in the bathroom stall.

This park is way better since they revamped it a while back, there are a lot of cool things to see if you walk along the river. If you play Pokemon Go, this place has a lot of good Pokemon spawning all the time and enough Pokéstops to keep your bag full.

A very cool park right in the heart of Bakersfield that centers around a water way giving the park it's name, Mill Creek. There are several international gardens in the park that represent different cultures from around the world with respective flowers and trees from the different areas. Unfortunately because of its downtown location, the park has a high transient population that keeps most people away.

Ducks roam around as well as a decent sized homeless population. Bakersfield museum of art is here. However people that want to walk around without spending money there are a number of Poke stops here while playing Pokemon. Park is usually clean except after large events that are held here from time to time.
