Mills Park Hotel

About

28-room hotel in downtown Yellow Springs, Ohio. Banquet hall, conference room, fitness room, general store, and Ellie's Restaurant & Bakery.

Story

Mills Park Hotel was our vision for the Village of Yellow Springs, and we’ve taken great care to bring it to life with historic charm, local flavor and modern amenities. Now, we hope it’s a place for you to dream about – and visit often – as you come here to honor traditions, create memories and write a history of your own.

There are several special touches in our guest rooms, and we hope you’ll enjoy them. All of our rooms feature hand-crafted Amish furniture from Millersburg, Ohio. Even the mattresses were hand-made in the Buckeye State. Nature photography by young local artist Lake Miller is displayed on the walls, and hand-crafted lamps by Naysan McIlhargey and the artists of Miami Valley Pottery are bedside.

Additionally, we have a restaurant and
bakery, gift shop, fitness room, meeting facilities and a banquet hall on-site – all managed by the friendliest and most helpful staff you'll find anywhere!

During your stay, we hope you’ll explore the hotel as well as our Village and all it has to offer. Thank you for staying with us!

We booked the banquet hall a year and four months in advance. Upon booking we paid for the room rental and deposit in full. After those payments were made we were told verbally, through email and through their paperwork provided we only had food and alcohol left to pay for. Six months later our family attempted to book their rooms and discovered the rooms we had blocked could not be reserved. Once discovering this issue we had to call and find out why our guests could not book their rooms. When we contacted Mills Park we found out the event coordinator was let go and their were issues with our wedding reservation. We only discovered these issues with our reservation because we called them to check on our room bookings. Mills Park made no attempt to contact us to tell us there were many issues with our wedding reservation until we just so happened to call in that day. At that point they added in additional costs that would have added a couple thousand extra dollars. We were forced to move our wedding outdoors with no accommodations if the weather was bad. We were told our planned cocktail hour was now an additional $750 (for one hour) and rental of the entire property was mandatory to hold a cocktail hour in the lobby. These additions were not listed in their contract and were never mentioned when we decided to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception there. Lastly, they increased the hotel room costs by $100 per night and said rooms must be booked for at least two nights after already blocking and booking our hotel rooms at a rate $100 less and for one night. Mills Park had taken every single reason I booked the venue away and would not work with me or honor the agreements made four months prior. For us it felt like they just wanted to scare us off in hopes that we would move our wedding elsewhere so they would not have to put effort into pleasing us. We understand that the event coordinator was not doing their job correctly, however we were very disappointed with how management handled the situation. They only caused stress and made us feel that they couldn't care less about our wedding. Apparently management was not involved in the process of their employee booking weddings or training their employee properly on their costs, capabilities and regulations. Unfortunately, Mills Park did nothing to make up for their mistakes but add in costs and make us change our already set plans causing us to move our wedding to another venue. What we know about Mills Park's current management is their way of communicating is extremely unprofessional and not time sensitive. We were forced to call multiple times a day leaving messages and never heard back till days later when we happened to catch the manager by luck. We never once received a call or email back without having to contact the manager multiple times. They are not sensitive to your time what so ever and make you feel that you're event is not of importance. When you're spending as much money as you will here you should be their top priority at all times. This is especially important when such drastic changes are happening to your event that could cause you to move your wedding. Great customer service should have been expected, however that was the last thing we received. We cannot say enough that we recommend booking your wedding elsewhere. The Mills Park hotel has no business being a wedding venue. They lack customer service, professionalism and honesty. Do not get hung up on the beauty of the hotel. However, if you're set on booking here get EVERYTHING in writing and signed by both parties, even down to the tiniest of details and prices. Make no assumptions and question if there is an additional cost for everything you plan because chances are they will change their pricing and policies before your wedding day arrives. Please take this review into serious consideration before booking at Mills Park to save yourself from the stress and chaos they caused us.

We attended a wedding here and it was lovely. The event seemed to go off without any glitches and the flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour to reception worked great. The setting is beautiful. The food was very good. The couple getting married had mentioned that they had to work with 3 different event planners in the 9 months since they booked the venue which I think was a little frustrating for them but didn't seem to impact the outcome of the event.

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful light decorations and the room was spotless. The bathroom setup wasn't my favorite but worked well. Overall a very good experience.

Had breakfast at Ellie's. Pancakes were fluffy, real maple syrup, best bacon ever. My eggs were cooked perfect. My husband said the coffee was delicious. Service was attentive but not hovering, very lovely atmosphere. We will definitely go back.

A beautiful space in a beautiful place. We enjoyed a wonderful night walking around town, visiting Yellow Springs Brewery, and then walking back to enjoy a peaceful nights rest. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was great and Chris took great care of us with a song in his heart. Highly recommend as a destination or a quick get away for locals who want luxury close to Dayton.
