About

The Ministry at UW Stout is a joint venture between the Lutheran Campus Ministry and the Newman Catholic Ministry.

Story

In 1969, a small group of dedicated men and women joined together their talents and vision to begin an ecumenical campus ministry center on the UW-Stout campus. The goal of the founding staff was to gather the university community together to share the "Good News" and to engage in conversation about the unique Christian traditions and values which have shaped the lives of so many.
In 1975 The Ministry Incorporated Board was organized to facilitate the joint ownership and maintenance of the Blue House, located on the University's North Campus. In 2012, the Ministry moved to their new building in the center of campus across from the Clock tower. The center is jointly owned by the ELCA Lutheran Church and the Roman Catholic Diocese of LaCrosse. The Board's membership is drawn from lay members of the constituent churches.

Today, The Ministry continues to serve the Stout students by providing a vital and active Christian presence on this Campus.

Lutheran Campus Ministry to UW-Stout "invites students to put their faith into action." Lutheran Campus Ministries meets Monday evenings at 6pm for a FREE Home cooked meal and a faith discussion! There’s ALWAYS great food and fellowship!

Newman Catholic Ministry offers students a place to connect with students who have similar values. As a Roman Catholic Campus Ministry, it is the Word of God and the Eucharist that form the center of our life together. Without a church building of our own, we truly become the “Church,” the living body of Christ.

Meeting times are Thursdays at 5:15-7:00PM. These nights offer a range of delicious foods prepared by Newman students as well as a range in topics. Students take turns cooking dinner each week, followed by a discussion on a Faith Topic, sometimes serious, sometimes light, and always interesting.
