This review is strictly for the bison section of the park... as a photo enthusiast hoping to get close enough to capture these magnificent creatures and after visiting the bison section of the park five times now, I can tell you that the bison must have been beaten with cameras by the staff because in the five times I have been there, 300 yards are as close to the animals as i have gotten to them. The road inside the pen needs to be a one way loop so you can actually see them within say 100 yards. I'm hoping this change happens soon, otherwise people will stop coming to see the little dots on the horizon.

A beautiful state park just outside of Mankato. A great place to visit any season - during the winter the falls create fantastic ice formations. On the campground side (across the highway) you can drive through the bison range. Check the website as the they occasionally need to close the range for weather or maintenance.

It is a tough hike down the stairs in the winter time. The stairs ice over and you might as well slide down. Once you get down to the water there are sandstone walls in a circular cavern where the waterfall pours in. Lots of beautiful carvings and the ice freezes in an amazing way.

Beautiful scenery. Great place to take your kids or pets. Gorgeous waterfalls and great walking paths.

Always fun and interesting to visit. It just blows mind on how untouched and natural the land is at Minneopa. I would definitely suggest Minneopa State Park to visit with the family and friends. Especially for a picnic at the Minneopa Falls.
