A smaller mountain with a big mountain feeling. Mt. Monadnock with its exposed summit and spectacular views may be experienced in a several hour hike rather than an all day excursion. If a longer hike is desired, numerous trails may provide an extensive loop. The hike are suitable for year round adventure for those who are prepared.

Beautiful views and awesome hiking with challenging to moderate trails. Well maintained main area as well as camp ground. Alot of tourists on main trails but there are so many that there are always quiet place to enjoy nature. Also plenty of fun hidden gems to find on the mountain.

Not a bad longish winter hike. That said, make sure you bring appropriate gear: light traction (microspikes) or crampons will likely be necessary to summit safely in winter. Plan on the summit being 20+ degrees F cooler w/ wind chill. In summer expect crowds. And traffic. And tourons. On crazy weekends it looks like an ant hill. Often parking can be difficult and time consuming. Pack appropriately. You will need (at least): 1-2L water, a light jacket + extra layers depending on weather, a flashlight/headlamp in case you cut it close to dark, sneakers/hiking boots.

Always a good hike. The clear summit can get crowded during warm weather, and in the autumn. If you choose off times, or hike in the winter, you can still frequently have the summit to yourself. In clear weather, you can easily see Boston, Vermont, and up towards the white mountains. Trails are generally well marked, and we'll travelled, but if you choose smaller side trails rather than the main thoroughfares, you can avoid some of the crowding.

Nice hiking trails that are well maintained with amazing views at the top. I always avoid the crowds by parking at Gibson pond. Wish it wouldn't get so crowded on weekends but not much you can do.
