Proudly serving the Montrose area since the 1950's, Montrose Veterinary Clinic is a progressive, mixed animal practice that prides itself in giving your animals the best care possible. Very sad memories of this vet clinic. It has taken me over a year to actually write a review because I was so upset. My boy golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer of the spleen and it was removed by this office ($1550). A hefty price, but the blood work came back okay so we thought our boy was going to be back to normal. But the biopsy came back 'malignant' and the Dr never called to tell me (chart on her desk). Since we didn't think anything was wrong, we took him for a walk. Well, he just laid down on the side of the road while on the walk (couldn't breathe). I had to leave him with my son on the side of the road, while I ran to get the car a mile away to drive my dog to the vet. The Dr "on call" charged me another $250 for walking in the door with my dying dog (which I just paid $1550 for surgery). She gave me an exorbitant fee because it was after 5:00. It was 5:45 and my dog was dying and I just gave their office $1550 only to have my dog die 2 weeks later. Where's the humanity there? Give me the bad news but don't take every last dime I have. I literally didn't have enough money for a normal cremation. I had to just do a common burial. I had to borrow money to put him down. How pathetic that this office is so concerned with money, that they have lost their heart. Overall I gave them over $2000 within 1 month only to walk away with an empty collar. I will NEVER return and will tell others of my horrible experience there. So sad. I feel this office was incompetent and only concerned with their financial stability.

Made a quick appointment while traveling through the area. Super friendly, efficient and professional. Really appreciate their service! Wish we lived closer!

Friendly, caring staff and there when you need them most. Affordable, compared to prices in the Denver area.

Was taking my dog there for awhile. My dog has siezures. Got his meds last month. HULU went into my account unauthorized and I didn't know i bounced a check. Have all the money to pay short 10 bucks with fees. VET refused to work with us and denied my dogs medication that prevents him from having seizures. Never will I ever take my animals there again!! No compassion. I even tried to show my claim number from my bank.

My husband and I went camping in Ouray over the 4th of July weekend and our cavalier King Charles overheated, and from the looks of her, was just barely holding on. Dr. Tumlinson was unbelievably kind- not only to our baby girl but to us- we were a mess. She handled the entire situation with professionalism and kindness. Did I mention she came in on a holiday? We are so grateful for this place, and Dr. Tumlinson. Our pup just finished her last meds and is back to her chipper self. I'd recommend this place any day of the week.
