Established in 1969, Bill & Ruth's has been a Staple in the Monticello Avenue Community for over 40 Years! Live Jazz Fridays 8PM-Midnight and Sunday Sessions Hosted by Winard Harper 6:30PM-10PM. Come join us and cool out with our beloved Neighborhood Bar and Lounge.

Reviews

We were there for Sunday Jazz night, $10 cover.  Nice music and musician are full of passion.  It's raw, original and fun.  If you want a beer, it's good but not much options for wine and other mixed drinks.  Also, food is limited as well.  I would love to be back to enjoy the music.

I might have chosen the wrong night.  Staff was friendly but the place was empty (Friday, 830).  Super cold out and December 29 so, who knows.  Band was a mix of guys in from Detroit and house players.  Piano guy (house) had bud Powell speed... Impressive!  Other guys were ok.

Considering the other reviews I feel like I caught an off night.  I'll go back and update my review when I do.  I want this place to be great and my nj go to.

Sunday nights here are always a blast featuring a "meet the artist" showcase of a different well-established Jazz luminary followed by an open jam session of some the brightest and most passionate up and coming jazz musicians in the North Jersey/NY City area. It's a chance to see and here international jazz stars in a relaxed setting in "the hood" (in the BEST possible sense of the word) while also getting insight into their professional history through conversations with the audience.

The atmosphere is very family like. So, don't worry if you are a new comer because you will very soon become part of the family at Moore's. Also it ends a little latter than 10:00 pm more close to 11:00. It is truly a nice relaxing place to stay with the addition of free food.

Moore's Lounge is a community staple in our neighborhood -- Ms. Ruth always makes you feel at home with great food, drinks, and live jazz. Come on a Friday or Sunday night to hear the great Winard Harper and a host of special guests and other musicians
