I've scoured Bar Harbor looking for good muffins and croissants, and Morning Glory is without a doubt the absolute BEST bakery in town. There's often a line out the door, and it's worth the wait! They are the only bakery to make true croissants - you know, the ones made with butter and with true, flaky pastry dough. Most other places simply shape their bread dough into a crescent and call it a croissant - not here! Likewise for their blueberry muffins: they are most, with just a bit of crispness on the top, and just the right texture. Not like those large, overly bread-like muffins you can find at many shops and groceries. Finally, they now have a "no cell phone" policy that they actually enforce, which makes it much more pleasant if you decide to eat there at one of the (few) tables or at the window counter. UPDATE: August 2017. Morning Glory continues to be excellent, however they lost their croissant baker, so this year they didn't offer any croissants at all. That's too bad, but I still highly recommend them for all their other baked goods.

We really liked the small bakery, everything being prepared fresh, loved the 3 seed bagels! Must have. I am rating it 3 star because i received a call from my father and one of the 3 ladies working here told me to go outside of we are going to take calls. I think that was very rude while people siting there were taking.

I'm sorry for this rant, but talk about this place! Morning Glory (Bar Harbor, Maine) being cheap; this policy of theirs really indicates that their motives are for profit and not customer service, as the use of credit and debit cards was provided for customer convenicne so that we could access our bank accounts without ahving to deal with the hassle of cash or bank errands. This place accepts Visa, MasterCard and Amex, however, only under the circumstances that your order is $5.00 or greater. That's honestly ridiculous for a coffee shop/bakery. The only orders that will amount to such a total will contain food. This means that to attain a coffee using your card, you'll have to get food whether you'er hungry or not. I typically get breafast at home, since I'm a bit frugal and I like to get a balanced meal which you're not going to get eating out at a bake shop (carbs only), and I'd like a coffee befre I head into work, that's a reasonable demand. The rationale behind their policy is clear as daylight; it costs money to use Visa/Amex/Novus' services and an EFT machine. In my opinion, this doesn't cancel the fact that a customer's convenience in using this service that you've got ready for them to use (IF they're using it for the amount you've set an arbitrary limit on) is provided to them so that they, the reason you have a business (that EFT machine is giving you this money...is given to you. Makes no sense to me in the end that you'd sooner deny said customer said services over a small fee.

A wonderful place for bagels, sticky buns, bread, and other things a bakery would offer. Has drinks and outdoor seating. Public restroom. Has some other things as well, like cake and Danish pastries. Always something to read there too. For this, I give it a 5/5.

Nice quiet location. Great for breakfast. Decent prices compare to other places. Kinda like a hole in the wall spot. Had a scone which was delicious.
