The train ride was really fun. But watch out. When we left the bottom it was 70° and when got to the top it was 28° and the wind was blowing around 50 to 60mph. So dress warm because you stay up there for an hour. They have good food and drinks and a warm place to get out of the wind. The view is so cool. And when we went the leaves were just turning. A great time.

The train is very cool, and the engineers/tour guides are very enthusiastic about the cog railway and it's technology. Unfortunately the ride is not very pleasant. The seats are as hard as church pews and are angled oddly to accommodate the steepest parts of the climb. The train is very loud, vibrates hard, and is slow at to the various switch points. The top is great. Lots to see, a nice place to warm up and eat. You can send a postcard from the post office on the summit. Gift shop is nice quality at amazing prices for a tourist spot. The auto road is much more comfortable, roughly the same price, and you can stay and go as you please. Of course if you are a nervous driver, or don't follow the auto road instructions, the drive could be stressful. The auto road is very safe still. They have road crews to help disabled cars, tow trucks, etc.

Well worth the drive & price to see White Mtn. Beautiful scenery from the bottom of the tracks to the top. Be prepared w/a warm jacket for everyone esp babies & young children. Quite a difference in temp. At the bottom of the mountain, it was a warm & sunny 85/90 F...once on the top, no sun, cold winds & clouds lingering when we stepped off! Glad we made the ride.

This place is so cool. You will climb up the mountain sitting in a train and the experience is simply awesome. If the weather is not that great, they may not take you to the top but even that I would say is worth your time and money. There is a gift shop as well.

Must see, if only for the beautiful scenery. It's stunning how far you can see from the top of this mountain. As you go up using this old fashioned railcar, you also see the effects of temperature changes. We went from late summer at the bottom to winter up top, sixties to near zero. There was frost on what vegetation was nearby, but the valley below showed leaves changing color. Wear extra layers!!! Make sure you pick a crystal clear day so you can see as far as possible.
