The Murrieta Fire Department is a Fire Protection District that was merged with the City of Murrieta as a subsidiary district back in 1993. Murrieta Fire Department has it's own fund, which is separate from the City's general fund. The Fire Department is the primary provider of fire suppression, pre-hospital advanced emergency medical care (paramedics), disaster preparedness coordination, hazard mitigation and fire prevention services. Murrieta Fire Department has five (5) fire stations strategically located throughout the City of Murrieta that is staffed with three personnel at each station (Fire Captain, Engineer and a Firefighter/Paramedic), along with one Battalion Chief. A total of sixteen (16) suppression personnel are on-duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, that protect the citizens of the City of Murrieta, which has a population of over 107,000, making it one of the largest cities in Riverside County.
