If you want to eat good Indian food in New Jersey you cannot afford to miss going here. By far the best Indian food I have tasted in a long time. And the service and ambience are really good. Just be ready to share the place with a full crowd of enthusiastic people. Everything we tried was really good. I just regret we had no room for desserts.
Food is awesome. Ambiance is great. We had good food during a special occasion of my son’s birthday. Specially Hyderabad Goat Biryani and Goat Paya traditional.
Just went in for a quick lunch today. Overall food is ok; but liked the Appams, specially the Egg Appams. Shrimp 65 was too dry with very light and bland batter, so is the Tawa Pomfret. Was expecting a whole Pomfret Grilled but guess they prefer to slice it in 4 pieces. The Nalan Special Chicken was not tasty at all; typical watered down gravy where the onions weren’t sautéed properly; overall mediocre food taste. Liked the decor, and service but need to improve a lot on the food quality and taste before I can visit again.
After looking for good Indian restaurants near Princeton, this was the top rated one. So today, we drove 50 minutes to get here and boy, was it worth it. Everything was amazing. The chicken Tikka masala, the chicken vindaloo, and especially Lasoori kabob the best dish by far; super flavorful!!!. We loved everything and the prices were reasonable compared to most places. The inner decor is also outstanding. We are definetly coming back!
First time visit. It’s pretty decent restaurant and the staff were very friendly. The taste was amazing. We tried Appam with Egg curry, it was delicious. My son loved it. Decent price on all food. Recommend : Appam with any curry and Tandoor chicken Need to work on the Ambience.
Tried here first time . Ordered biryani , veg kothu parota, chick veppudu, goat pepper .. looking at the name of the restaurant, I thought it was a tamilian restaurant..looks like andhra cuisine . They have gongura chicken and many other andhra dishes. Was actually looking for a pure Tamil menu. Chick veppudu was ok… could have been more spicy and crispy. Veg kothu parota was good. Goat biryani was the best . Nice and spicy and had a lot of pieces. Pepper goat was average . More of bones and less meat … could have given 3 stars , but just because of the biryani , I’m giving 4 … parking is right there . Indoor dining looks good . There are also a couple of outdoor seating … overall a good experience but could be better …
We wanted to try out a new place and decided to give Nalan a go. The vast and unique menu items attracted us. Tried Egg Perratal for the first time and liked the chettinad spices in it and the caramelized onions. Well worth a try....withadras filter coffee on the side. Tried the Kodi vedupu...a 4.8er !! Loved the heat and spices in it. Being a Telugu guy...i love hot food and this meets my palate. The meat was tender with the right bite size. Next had the bone-in Hyderabadi dum chicken biryani.....tender meat falling off the bone with mild spices. Personally i prefer the rice to be a bit sticky...but still its a 4.0. Poondu Kozhambu was a little on the tart side...a couple of hot chilli powder dashes would have balanced it out. Customer service was exceptional with smiles all around. Overall i would rate my experience as 4.8.
Came here for a quick weekday dinner! This area of Franklin area has many great Indian restaurants and I was so glad to discover this place with a few friends Ambiance - festively decorated for Diwali - vibrant colors - smaller dining space with plenty of seating Service - fast service - Attentive staff Food - Hyderabadi Goat Dum Biryani: goat was perfectly tender and the whole dish was pleasantly spicy. It also paired well with the other curry dishes we ordered - Kal Dosai with Chicken Curry: my first time trying Kal Dosai and I enjoyed every bite! It has a soft fluffy texture similar to pancakes. It was slightly tangy and paired well with the chicken curry - Chicken Tikka Masala- of course I had to get this classic! Definitely one of the best tikka masalas that I've had! Very creamy, tender chicken, robust flavor I'll definitely be back again!
Best South Indian Non veg. Goat Sukha & Appam are must haves !! Fresh ingredients and distinct flavors We ordered a bunch of dishes and each one was made to perfection. Egg perattal , goat nilgiri, dal fry , fish curry were all very good. The porotta was very yummy too. Highly recommended! @nalanrt27 - Thank you! We had great experience. Will come back again to try the goat liver.
We dined in during a weekend and we had the Ambur Mutton Biryani. This was simply the best biryani I’ve ever had in the east coast. The taste is authentic and they use seeraga samba rice! We also had the appam with chicken curry which is my friend’s favorite. The person at the register probably the owner was very polite and friendly.Recommended dishesAmbur Mutton Biryani, Appam with Coconut Milk
