Natural Grocers specializes in ethically raised meats, vegan/vegetarian alternatives, and well sourced vegetables and fruits. As you might expect, some things are relatively more expensive than elsewhere. But oddly, some things are remarkably cheaper. Shallots, for example, are far cheaper (and better quality) than anywhere else in town. The same is true of most of their bulk packaged foods.

I really like some of the products they carry here. Only place I can find them.  I don't get to shop here often as I live 90 miles away but whenever I come through Fargo, I try to be sure to stop.

I got an attitude when i asked if one thing was gmo...once. I have also gotten teased by the same cashier on several occasions, about bringing in my own bags, even shouted across the store that I looked like a bag lady...if you shop there, bring your own bags just not too many! Another time I went there was another cashier complaining about standing all day and she yelled "I'm a woman I don't want to stand!" which was really odd behavior. Another time someone came up and asked if we needed help. We were looking for hemp seeds, she didn't even know what they were. Checkout is very slow. The fruit is usually too ripe or picked too early. Some good products and vendors, but I would rather just buy on amazon from now on, or anywhere but there.

I have found that they carry item I can not find elsewhere in the FM area. I buy essential oils and other natural supplements.

Great natural food selection. I went there in search of a specific vitamin, they did not the exact one but a comparable product. Friendly staff that wants to make sure you find what you need. Great customer service.
