A fabulous place! We not only saw an enormous number of native plants, it was great for casual birding.

At this time of the year not many plants to see. Too late in the season.  Did have some interesting statues.

Good wooded hike from near University Place to the UNC campus. I have had too many run ins with dogs running loose to really feel comfortable here. I was nearly attacked once by a large dog that ran after me. I saw a pair of barred owls in the trees just before dusk. I didn't like how they had cut many of the trees on the campus end. I used to walk here in the 1990s before I moved away. The look of the UNC end has changed. Much less wooded down there. It is about a 2 mile walk from end to end. Benches and other vantage points have been added.

Great nature trail for exploring and walking dogs.

Be aware that if you're driving to this park, there is absolutely no parking without a permit or an event permit anywhere nearby. The park is really awesome, so it would be nice to be able to go there : /
