Outstanding hospital, fantastic staff. This place is as good as it gets, and far better than most. I'm having a series of surgerys here and these people are amazing. Looking at some of the other reviews I have to wonder how they managed to have a bad time, it would take some effort in my opinion.

I had surgery this past Friday and had to stay one night for observation ALL the people since the day of my pre operation until the day I was discharge were amazing to me. The nurses, the 3 lovely ladies in the front desk, the grandma in the waiting room, Richard Sara and Tamara from floor 5, the doctors, the anesthesia team, the guy who drive me in my wheel chair this people are GREAT!!! God bless their lives so they can keep treating patients.

Their billing practices violate state and federal laws and are atrocious. They receive full payment from insurance, payment they agreed to receive as an in-network provider and then turn around and bill the so-called remainder. This was not a co-pay or an out of pocket expense. This was balance-billing that they cannot do in my situation. Actually they don’t even bill, they quietly turn over bogus balances to the collection agency. My health plan had to call them to remind them of their billing obligations under the state and federal laws. They charged $10,000 for 2hr of emergency room service where they administered sugar water through an IV (I was dehydrated). They received full adjusted balance, and wanted to collect more- another $2,000. SHAME on NCH.

My baby brother went there with a constant cough and trouble breathing along with a fever that just didn't want to go down. My mom brought him here and they did NO x-rays on him. They discharged him in saying that what he had was viral and prescribed him some medicine (that his stomach cannot take so sure enough, he was throwing up from left to right.) My mother then decided to take him to another hospital (who DID do an x-ray on him) and long behold: my baby brother now has pneumonia and has to now stay over night. Moral point of this review: all of this could have been prevented if these people would have just done they're job in the first place! I did in fact call this hospital and they either hung up on me as soon as I told them who I wanted to talk to and for what reason. Or they gave me the run around. As in saying 'please hold, I'll transfer you' over and over again. Ps: I only gave this place one star because it wouldn't let me put in my review unless I rated it. Why is this hospital still even open?

I agree with the majority of the reviews on here that even giving the NCH ER one star is generous. On Memorial Day, I went in with sharp throat pain I got immediately after swallowing a bite of burger. I let the doctors & nurses know this fact repeatedly. I would up leaving the ER undiagnosed with no treatment except advice to "take Motrin & gargle salt water" for my throat pain since it seemed to them it was a "sore throat" but they weren't exactly sure what was going on. The doctor even openly mocked me to a nurse, by saying within my earshot, "Has she ever had a sore throat before?" Turns out (after further treatment in another city), I had a metal grill brush bristle lodged in my throat which required surgery to remove. This was an obvious fact after having a CT scan & X-ray. The NCH ER performed neither of these on me during my stay. However, after filing a grievance case against the hospital, they lied to me; stating I did have a CT scan during my stay & that I did not tell them I got the pain immediately after eating a burger. Furthermore, they also lied to me about who they recommend for follow-up treatment (they claimed to refer me to an ENT, yet they just referred me to an internist). I have all their lies in writing. There is so much more to this story, but I just wanted to share a little of my story in a warning to others! DO NOT go to the NCH ER if you can help it - it is worth the drive elsewhere & I wish I had gone somewhere else immediately.
