Was lied to on several occasions. Do yourselves a favor, go to a nice looking town like Wilmington were you are treated with respect. Best move ever made.

I live in Bridgeton, NC. And for years I have loved this area and have recommended it to travelers. However after my experience with NBPD. today I am now discouraging people from traveling to New Bern. I am a disabled US Navy veteran. Well in September of 2014 it was discovered that due to military related PTSD I could no longer hold down a regular job. So I have recently been playing music in down town New Bern like I have seen other people do day in and day out. But today I had a New Bern police officer approach me and said a complaint was received about my music. I went immediately to the NBPD and spoke with an officer only to be told well there are ordinances and they have gray areas to them and that someone playing music with a bucket is considered soliciting. Well I was not twisting anyone's arm to drop donations in my bucket so I thought all was okay. But some elitist fascist business owner called the police. I hope they come to realize that they sicked the cops on a disabled veteran. I am going to be contacting veterans organizations and tourist groups about how New Bern, NC treats it's disabled veteran's it is not bad enough that some disabled veterans are  begging in the streets, now those of us that are just trying to help our families are treated like waste material but that is okay I will be telling everyone I know how this town treats it's disabled veterans. you can be sure of that.
