I want to give this place a better rating but I can't right now. Everyone who works there is awesome and they really try, but they got screwed by hurricane sandy so there's not a whole lot to do there and you can run through the place in about 20 minutes. This will probably change once they get their new addition all set up. Can't wait for that. 

Having said that, it's still a fun place to take little kids. The animals are super cute

The two stars are driven by the significant amount of time it's taking to redo this aquarium. Even for $11, there just isn't enough to do.  With that being said, the two stars comes solely from the Sea lion show.  We went on a slow day and this was the best show I have ever seen. Even included an up close and personal experience. If the refurbishment is ever complete, I would try again.

Great place to bring the kids during the summer. Parking is available at a price. It's close to the highway. There is a vast selection of sea creatures to view. The 🦈 tank was my favorite.  It was worth the trip.  Staff is very knowledgeable. Food prices are like going to the movies so plan accordingly.

This is THE New York Aquarium. We went with our 2 year old daughter and she loved the penguins and the  shark tank. On the flip side, the place is in a sad state from Hurricane Sandy. There isn't a place to eat inside and a good number of the exhibits are closed. It feels really small. That said, tickets are only 11.95 for ages 3 and over, free under 3, so for the price it was a great way to spend the first 1/2 of our day.

I would have given five stars but the aquarium is still rebuilding. However, even with limited exhibits it was great. My wife and two year old son loved it. When they rebuild it and open all exhibits it's going to be amazing experience for sure.
