The hours on here are not only not correct, but seasonal. We were unable to visit after all. I've posted a picture of their sign and number to call for an appt outside of these times. I'd suggest calling/emailing days in advance. That being said, we went back months later and the tour itself was great. It was affordable, informative, and not too long. The mine itself was fascinating. Definitely worth the money, but if you are coming from far away, call ahead to be sure they are open.

We've been to several PA coal mines and can honestly say that this one was great!! The tour of the mine was authentic and the guide was interesting and knowledgeable. Bring a jacket and good walking shoes! Children and teens should all experience this ... It will give them a great lesson on history of PA, energy, society and labor laws. The museum is full of good examples and information.

Unique tour, truly an authentic experience. Very knowledgeable tour guide. Bring a jacket and wear comfortable shoes. If you're claustrophobic or afraid of the dark, this is not the right tour for you.

A very different experience. It was amazing to go deep inside the mine. It really made us realize how awful the working conditions would have been there, particularly during the early days of mining. Our guide was a local young man and gave a wonderful tour. Money well spent. There is also a museum related to the history of this coal mine.

Fun fun fun. Who thought a cold (52F), wet, dark and dirty hole in the ground could be so much fun. Our tour guide was AWESOME, funny and very knowledgeable.
