This was interesting. The hand thing is a little forced. Just because someone tells you something doesn't mean it's true. Also, they don't really give you too much information- and then ask you whether they did it! I don't know, you didn't explain both sides. Ugh. A little bit of a tourist trap, but still interesting.

It may not quite be worth the $7 for the tour but our guide was friendly and reasonably knowledgeable about the place. The big draw is the hand print in cell 17. The cell is locked to protect it but you can see it from the door. Overall many of the spaces have seen better days but the renovations that have been done are a good considering that this was an active county jail until 1995. It is scary to imagine being stuck in that space around that period. The history of the region and it's Irish immigrant population is the most striking part of the tour. Being of Irish decent and having family who once called Pennsylvania home really hit me pretty hard just what they went through in the way of discrimination. It is a little uphill hike from the mail part of town so if you aren't very active possibly consider trying to drive up.

We went there and it was great! For a cheap price you get to see many things and you get to learn some history as well. The tour guides help you and give lots of detail about the place. The owner is very nice. If you have the time you should check it out.

Very cool. A must visit if you're in the poconos. It's about an hour visit. They allow you to walk around the main block at the end
