The Northeastern Center for the Arts has been responsible for organizing public events in the performing arts for the university and local community since 1993. In 2010, The College of Arts, Media and Design was created as part of the restructuring of the former College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Criminal Justice. As part of this restructuring, the Center for the Arts was realigned as a unit within the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) under the leadership of Dean Xavier Costa.
Given the new vision and structure of CAMD, the Northeastern Center for the Arts under the leadership of Director Bree Edwards, launched in 2013 with the mission to present collaborative and socially engaged public programming.
The Northeastern Center for the Arts is the University’s public center for the presentation of all forms of artistic and cultural production. We support creation, presentation and critical dialogue.
Based in the College of Arts, Media and Design, the Center hosts a diverse program of free musical and theatrical performance, lectures, and other live events. We also support artist residencies, contemporary art & design exhibitions and public art on campus.
