Associated with the hospital, but you can join on your own. For those under Dr.'s care, they have a variety of rehab programs. For anyone else, it's a large, well equipped facility with every kind of machine and apparatus, free weights, a great competition-size pool and a decent 1/8th mile indoor track.

Avoid this gym until leadership completely changes and new attitudes take hold. *NOTE:* The pool lanes are not regulation width. The pool is 25 SCY, but each lane is not regulation, thus making it more difficult to swim. The pool is kept extremely warm for water aerobics classes. This makes it difficult to breathe when swimming laps. Members going to classes do not take showers. When the water aerobics classes start, if you are swimming laps, you can taste perfume and powder. They still cannot figure out a swimming season, triathlon season for planning routine maintenance, holiday vacations and "sessions". They want everything to be in eight week sessions, because that is the what the hospital software "does". TWC used to be a great place with an outstanding community. The leadership of the hospital and management of TWC have consistently over charged their membership for additional programs (Masters Swimming, Triathlon Training, etc). To them, fitness is all about the profit margin, even if you have purchased a full membership.

Now that I have read all these reviews good and bad, has the management and facilities gotten any better?

The only exercise facility that's comparable in price to the Wellness Center, Arlington Heights is the East Bank club in River North. The wellness Center, Arlington Heights does not even come close. I think they get their trainers from some sort of prison release program. They walk around with a very false sense of entitlement, break every posted rule in the gym and have zero respect for any members that they are not training. There are trainers that sit on their cell phones in the locker room, there are trainers that walk around the facility as if they own the gym. I've heard trainers blatantly make fun of elderly members and younger members who are new to working out at a gym. To be fair, some of the front desk staff are pleasant people. Bottom line, for $80 a month all members should be treated with respect, dignity and should be valued. Someone just needs to manage this place and get their trainers in line. Or at least make a phone call to the parole officers.

This place is pricey, but the amenities and opportunities are impressive. It is possible to get your money's worth if you take advantage of the offerings beyond just the gym floor, such as well equipped and very clean locker room, pool, classes in yoga, stretching, cycling, etc. The hours are flexible enough for me and I like the friendly atmosphere and the fact that all ages can be seen working on improving fitness! I do find the personal training very expensive. I also feel that some of the equipment is getting dated, and while every effort is made to keep things in good repair, I would like to know when/how they replace things. One basic thing in definite need of replacement, are many of the floor mats. Some of those things are in shreds!
