Nottoway Plantation, also known as Nottoway Plantation House is located in White Castle, Louisiana, United States. The plantation house is a Greek Revival and Italianate-styled mansion built by John Hampden Randolph in 1859, and is the largest extant antebellum plantation house in the South with 53000sqft of floor space.

Very pretty area. You can check out the old rooms on a tour ($) or visit just the outside grounds for free. It is a working hotel, resort and restaurant so it's open later. The gardens are beautiful. In terms of historical accuracy and how much has stayed the same, compared to others which have still have slave quarters and untouched goods, this isn't the place. Good photo opportunity though.

Went here for a wedding and although the wedding was extremely short the reception was incredible! The service from the food being catered to eat table, drinks, table set ups, to the staff was an absolute A+. The night before the wedding we were served a full course meal which was delicious.The place is breathtaking and it was an awesome experience as a guest. Also one man showed us "the wicked witch" during the night which was really neat. An experience I won't forget.

An elegant slave built mansion by rich cruel slave owners. Now an elegant hotel. Sleep in luxury while dreaming of all the suffering their slaves endured so they could live like royalty. Food is excellent. First time my husband and I visited 10 years ago we were the only ones staying there. 64 rooms to ourselves. Not even a caretaker stayed overnight. It was surreal. But this our 4th visit I connected spiritually with long lost slaves. I believe because the restaurant hires locals AND I WAS TOLD by them their families have been in White Castle for several hundred years. They are now serving whites in the same mansion where their ancestors were enslaved. It tore my heart out.

The hotel is nice and simple. Beautiful decorations and furniture in the rooms but the real thing is the mansion where you can eat. Our best time there was the tour of the old house with a knowledgeable guide. Worth the detour.

Food was average, spice sauce too much for some. Service was attentive. Tour Guide was very informative. Grounds were well kept and blooming.
