Great family spot, Great Views. upper area camping near woods and lower area camping on the tide pools water. camping spots are a first come first serve area. 20$ a night for a fire ring, and spot for a tent or smaller camper, with a picnic table. Fresh Water available near the outhouses. Clams, mussels, oysters, crab, and all sorts of creatures to explore. Soft sand when the tide is out. All in all loved this place.

We got here on Thursday at 11 30 at night due to the fact that I work during the week, I took Friday off and decided to surprise my family with an impromptu camping trip. Due to a long drive we stopped at the bathrooms after choosing a site but before setting up, the camp host proceeded to yell from 250 feet away which obviously couldn't be heard by the time we got back to our campsite the sheriff was there because apparently the camp hosts are paranoid and don't know how to interact with other human beings. The sheriff was very nice and let us know how ridiculous the situation was and how he would not be coming out here again even if they call due to their ridiculousness. As a paying customer I felt very uncomfortable. I would recommend going to one of the several other parks in this area.

Last summer I camped here at the Upper Oak Bay Campground several times with my older daughter and we loved it. It had a great vibe, and a very friendly camp host. There were always lots of campers throughout the week, and it was usually full on weekends. This summer it's not the same. I brought my younger daughter this time. I pulled next to a tent site and stepped out of my car. We had literally pulled up and got out of the car, we had not even been there for a full minute, as my little girl asked to go play on the swings, a very thin, grey bun haired, old woman stomped over and with a very angry look on her face, and her arms folded with her body in an aggressive stance, she interupted my conversation with my daughter and I and as she stood a couple feet away with her hands on her hips, she yelled at us "what are you doing here" I replied "we are deciding on a camp site". She snarled in a voice as equally hideous as the mean look on her face, "you can't reserve spots, it's first come, first serve". "I am well aware of that" I said as nicely as I could to the demon woman standing before me. She gestured at my car and said, "where is your RV?" I said "I have a tent" as I smiled sweetly at her, she glared at me and snorted in disgust and yelled as she walked away, "you better pay before you set up your tent, or I'll call the sheriff". I was very surprised by the rude behaviour of this particular camp host. I have traveled across the country on numerous camping trips with my girls and I have never encountered anyone quite so rude in all my travels. It is sad that Jefferson County Parks has allowed such an awful person to be a camp host at such a wonderful campground. I won't be back as long as she is here. There are plenty of other wonderful campgrounds in the area.

Hidden gem - not sure about all of the negative reviews. We never even saw a campground host.

This is a fun small park split into two areas. The upper area is mainly for camping. The lower area, by the water, has campsites, a crude boat launch (best used at high tide) and lots of space for beach combing and play. The water does not get too deep quickly and there is a small creek emptying into the bay that's fun for kids to play in when it is warm out. Although the signs are missing, this is a water trails site for kayak camping.
