I'd also give 0 stars if I could. Our son is there now and not only do we feel as though the staff is inept and unprofessional, but they are also terrible communicators and highly judgemental. They're way too confident in their abilities and refuse to listen or consider the complexity of any given situation. You better have perfect lives and be made of money if you want respect from these people. If not, you'll be treated as though it's your fault your kid is there, regardless of the facts. And meanwhile, they can't guarantee rehabilitation despite said confidence. But we aren't supposed to be concerned about that, we simply need to shut up and take what we can get or be condemned as bad parents. They won't listen to the family's opinion or recommendations, seldom respond to calls or emails, and insist they know what's best for our family despite our son's history (that we know a lot more about). We feel like his diagnosis is wrong and based on misleading information (he has conduct disorder for God's sake, as per their own diagnosis), but they won't hear it. He does the same things he did to us to their staff, but somehow they're always exonerated. We are either not informed about anything going on or somehow blamed for not being involved enough. It doesn't go both ways, folks. They make things very difficult and seem to keep secrets and/or have ulterior motives at every turn. This is already hard enough. They like to play mind games like we are the patients, and seemingly work there solely for a paycheck or vanity. Like our family therapist said, "They just want to move him through the system and shove him out the door to make him someone else's problem. Yet, they won't take responsibility if their hasty decision causes more problems." Furthermore, I've felt disrespected so many times, not to mention unheard and mislead on numerous occasions - like I said, mind games. Without considering the struggles of parents and family members who have their loved ones in there, they chastise and condescend us then call it "a part of the process" or better yet, deny it or don't address it at all. Don't voice your concerns either, or else they slap YOU with a diagnosis (diagnonsense). What kind of process is that exactly? I never know what's going on with my son or his therapy, and my calls or emails typically go without response, yet they treat our family like we aren't trying hard enough or like we don't care. We live in another state and have two small children, but when things come up and we have to reschedule they treat us like we do it on purpose. However, their excuse for rescheduling or dropping the ball is always that they're too busy or "overwhelmed." Let me say I'm overhwhelmed and they'll say I can't cope. Life isn't allowed to happen to anyone but them, and I suppose they're the only ones who are allowed to be busy. They all must be perfect people with exemplary families and loaded bank accounts. Cast the first stone... In addition, I'm extremely displeased by the low-quality of the facility that, in my personal opinion, is an outdated and rundown dump that's ran by whoever will apply for a job. Don't let those photos on their website fool you. They were obviously taken in the best light and season possible and by a very talented photographer. I was appalled when I visited. Shocked is more like it, saddened for my son. Understaffed, undertrained, and unremarkable - everyone is too busy or too good for parents as if they know it all already. I'm trying not to be too cliche here, but it's difficult when the place is the epitome of lame, greedy, backwards, and useless. It's dirty, dusty, and dilapidated in there (both structurally and fundamentally). If I could break my boy out and take him to a place that's not ran by the state, I would in a heartbeat. I can't write enough about this place right now, so I plan to write a book about it. I'm sure they'll appreciate that, but I honestly couldn't care less. Their mishandling of such a delicate matter will end up being a distaster for my entire family. You wait and see.
