We liked it! Staff are very friendly. We appreciated being upgraded to a room with a beach view and balcony, instead of the pool view I had booked. Room was clean, and housekeeping gave us fresh towels every day. The AC works great, and the TV had a decent selection of channels. Can't beat the location. Having the mini fridge was nice, too. My only complaint about the hotel is that the bathroom was outdated - however, it was well kept and clean. The other downfall is the noise. People tend to drive obnoxiously down the street, and there were some people screaming or playing loud music nearby late at night. Obviously the hotel can't do anything about this, but it's just a good thing to keep in mind when booking in the future. Being so close to the entertainment means more activity. We also decided not to use the pool just because we felt it was too crowded.
Got a recommendation from another hotel that was booked to try this hotel. We knew some of the rooms had been updated so we booked one of those for a long spur of the moment weekend. The room was attractive but definitely had issues. The bathroom door wouldn’t close, the refrigerator had a broken foot and huge dents in it, there was an iron but no ironing board, no soap in the bathroom, empty shower gel bottle, the Direct TV was not working and there were very few parking spots so you had to park in a lot 1 1/2 blocks away. After the first night, the room was sort of made up. The bed looked like they just pulled the covers up. It wasn’t made. Still no shower gel or soap to wash hands. All in all the room that was updated was better than the old rooms but the overall hotel experience needs improvement. Since there is no overnight staff and a bar on the 1st floor, people run all round the hotel in the middle of the night waking everyone up since there is no sound insulation. Basically they just put lipstick on a pig. I would not recommend this hotel if asked and we will not be staying there again. Very disappointed.
Great location. Very nice staff. We stayed in a cottage. It was nice to have the extra space and a little kitchen. Housekeeping checked in with us every morning to make sure we didn’t need anything. I would absolutely stay here again! The tiki bar at the pool is awesome for parents who like to grab a drink while the kids swim.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here for a weekend and were very happy with our stay. We stayed in Room 204 which was redone, very clean, great views of boardwalk/ocean across the street from the room. Air conditioning was quiet and cool. Parking is extremely limited, we had to park 2 blocks away. Tiki bar was a lot of fun, pool water was very cloudy though. Fun music and great drinks. Room was very noisy in morning, a lot of children running around and screaming. We will definitely be coming back. Great location, clean and comfortable rooms.
In the past my family always booked at Oceanic, so my brother-in-law and I decided to keep the tradition going. My wife and I booked a cottage at $350 a night for Labor day weekend. I checked-in at 11:30pm, went to the cottage and noticed the disaster. Room wasn't vacuumed, bathroom wasn't clean, toilet had skid marks and dry urine on the lid. I opened the sofa bed and I found garbage and dirty socks on the mattress. I contacted the front desk and they immediately came to clean, but the damage was already done. I waited an hour 12:30am at my brother-in-law's cottage while the workers cleaned mine. While waiting in his cottage I noticed a rouch popped out of the kitchen. I couldn't make this up even if I wanted too. During my stay I kept questioning myself, what else they don't clean???
Mike and Gina at the front desk were very accommodating and helpful. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The new rooms are beautiful. The only draw back was the lack of a table and chair in the room to sit and eat. I will be returning!!Rooms: 5/5
We enjoyed our stay but there are some recommendations. The pros- the customer service was amazing especially MICHELLE she was really sweet and helpful. Our housekeeper was SUE and she did great work, the room was kept very tidy and smelled nice. The Cons- Our accordion style patio door window was broken, making it easy for bugs to get in. We had to chase a big moth out of our room and it could have been a hornet or something more serious. The shower rack had rust on it so we had to keep our towels away from that. It was an inconvenience not having a lamp, or microwave. Lastly, it’s was a small issue but we only had 25 tv channels which showed repetitive movies.
The room was awful unfortunately I must report. Not even a standard dresser nor a room phone to call guest service. The ice maker was broken on our floor during our whole visit so we were inconvenienced to go to another floor for ice. Also, after our 1st shower and seeing how slow the water emptied from the bathtub, we decided to time the next one and it took literally 2 hours to drain. The walls are also too thin as we could hear the tv from the next room all night long and anything else they were doing! Finally, they put in an outside tiki type bar with a pool open to non-staying guests, which cut down on the parking lot. They have more parking on the next block...which was a total inconvenience to the 2 of us. Can't imagine the inconvenience to a family with kids. My advice is to not stay here. But the location is great right across from the convention center and near the beginning of the boardwalk. The staff were very friendly and helpful and that's about the only positive things I can say. As far as the location goes, I'd rather stay at a hotel/motel a block or 2 away from the beach if the accommodations are better. And we paid $800 for a 3 night stay here and not worth it! This is a totally honest review.
I stayed in a "retro" room so this is based on that experience. The retro rooms presumably don't have as many amenities as the modernized rooms, but for that you get to save a few dollars. That being said, retro doesn't mean old, dirty, or musty as it does in some "classic" Wildwood hotels. The rooms were clean, well kept, and in good working order. Rooms are generally small, but when you are at a place like this, it is not expected that you will be doing much in your room except changing and sleeping, though it could use a chair or two. I like to read or watch television before I sleep, and sitting on the bed is not that comfortable. Oh it is perfectly adequate for sleeping, just not relaxing and sitting on. The lobby is clean and the staff friendly and inviting. The only negative I could really come up with is that the hallways could use with a refresh. This is where the place feels worn and musty and perhaps a bit underlit. But really that is nitpicking. I used this hotel for a stay for work, but will definitely be using it again the future for vacation endeavors when I return.
The good things about it is closed to the board walk, has a tiki bar at the pool and food that you can buy as well an on site bar for those who drink. Staff is friendly. About the room it smells humid and moldy, bathtub was a bit moldy toilet wasn’t clean and one of the pillows had like a blood stain. The room was very small and I did not have a microwave I was told when I ask about microwave that microwave only comes in rooms with a kitchen. So is basically a room with a small fridge a tv and a night stand. Way overpriced for the type of room and under quality.
