Oklahoma state agency that provides information, referral and services to people with disabiities.

Story

The Office of Disability Concerns (ODC) is an independent state
agency whose purpose is to help state government develop policies
and services that meet the needs of Oklahomans with disabilities.

ODC staff is available to answer questions from individuals, to
identify available resources and services by phone, email, letter
and fax.The Office is staffed Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.

ODC serves as a resource, to people with disabilities, who want to
present their views and recommendations to the Governor, the
State Legislature and State agencies.ODC supports two important
committees:

Governor’s Advisory Committee of People with Disabilities

Governor’s Advisory Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities

ODC is a technical resource from employment issues with
employment of people with disabilities and as a resource for
ADA compliance with design and implementation.

Mission

The Office of Disability Concerns ( ODC ) provides accurate and timely information, referral and advocacy. We act as an intermediary to persons with disabilities and provide services for those with disabilities.

"Welcome to the Office of Disability Concerns…Our mission reaches to a large cross section of Oklahoma’s population. As stated in the recent release Disability Statistics Compendium, Oklahoma has approximately 880,000 individuals with a disability, which is slightly more than 24% of the population. This community has a wide range of concerns that involve home, family, work and health. When an individual reaches out to our agency and we work with them to understand what the expectations are with the American with Disability Act and other associated civil rights and identify available resources that may help. We try to connect with the right knowledge and resource at the right time. Our mission also expands into outreach and awareness."
