Cute little family owned sub shop close to downtown Phoenix. In business over 32 years, great quality of bread and ingredients. The meatball sub is a must try. They have seasonal soups and an excellent salad selection. They only downfall is its right in front of a homeless shelter. Doesn't stop city employees from frequenting daily.

Great food, but man that works there it is a owner, is a very rude, up tight, mean to the homeless, just happens the shelter is right down the street, I have seen this man come out stare and this people and even call the damn cops on them for sitting on the other side of the street. Just because he is the way I will never return to this place. Homeless men and women are people too, just Haven a hard time. No one can or should jugde but he good Lord him self b

From a homeless Irish woman: "How the Old Station Sub Shop at 1301 W Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85007 has had the same owner for 30 years is a mystery to the Irish homeless in the area. I ordered a cold Roast Beef and Cheese sandwich and soda. Though homeless, I was clean, respectful, and immediately took out a $20 bill and handed it to the woman who took my order. She was OK. This was not quick enough for another woman behind her, however, because the second woman insinuated that if the first woman didn't get payment from me like yesterday the Old Station Sub Shop would never get paid at all. It was a good sized sandwich for the price, the roast beef was fresh enough, nonetheless, the Old Station Sub Shop interior has a musty odor and the bread smelled like the building which ruined the flavor of the sandwich for me overall - even putting aside the lightly wilted tomatoes. I have not purchased food or drink from the Old Station Sub Shop since. Again, as you can see, not because the food or service was horrible. Rather, the exterior - especially on the weekends - is crawling with ebony skinned sex offenders who slipped that they get information on customers there to commit sex offenses against. Likewise, the owner/employees have the unmitigated GALL to act like they are SUPERIOR to the MARKS/VICTIMS of the sexual offenses! Go figure because the owner/employees ain't nothing to write home about. Thus, if you were sexually assaulted/your children were sexually molested after dining at the Old Station Sub Shop, you need to report it to the FBI so they can solve the mystery and ensure the Old Station Sub Shop doesn't have the same owner for another 30 years."

Terrible! The only reason this place stays open is because there is nothing else around. I ordered a simple pastrami and cheese. What I got was a big sloppy pile of ingredients on top of soggy bread.I struggled to try to eat it then threw it away. It was horrible! I could not eat it as a sandwich since the bread was completely soggy as separated. It was literally like grabbing a pile as ingredients with your hand and trying to eat them. I've been here before and the food was just mediocre at best but at least I could eat it. This time it was just a big sloppy pile of mess. I will not be back. I'd rather not eat then to eat here again.
