About

Sincere concern for excellent medical care, comfort, and our willingness to spend time with each pet and owner should be evident during every visit. We strive to give each patient the same consideration as we would extend to our own families.

Story

Omaha Animal Medical Group acknowledges that our customers are intelligent people who realize how pets enrich our lives and that the responsibility of ownership demands proper medical and surgical care, along with supplies and other services.
Such procedures as laboratory testing, radiology, and electrocardiography can be done accurately and quickly in our hospital. Because your pet can’t answer questions, pin-pointing a problem requires diagnosis. Our on-site laboratory often allows us to make quicker decisions on diagnosis which means we can start treatments sooner. Our sophisticated radiographic equipment can also assist diagnosing your pet’s medical problems. Specialized radiographic studies can also be accomplished, such as barium series, pneumocystograms, and IVP’s. The EKG equipment we have is very modern and aids us in detecting any abnormalities associated with your pet’s heart.
Our sterile surgical facility is equipped for routine, more advanced, and emergency operations. The modern surgical suite is fully equipped with monitoring and support equipment. Strict sterile technique is utilized for all operating room procedures.
If the need for major medical care arises, be assured that every up-to-date procedures and support equipment will be utilized to care for your loved one. Each pet that is sick or requires surgery is constantly monitored, wrapped in blankets or towels, with the entire staff helping to monitor the care. You will be notified of progress at least once daily. On occasion we may ask you to visit your pet for reassurance. There will be instructions for their home care upon dismissal. Don’t be surprised if we call you after your pet has been home for a few days to check on your friend and answer any questions you may have.
Our well stocked pharmacy offers competitively priced medications and preventatives available to hasten treatment.
At our inside boarding facility cleanliness and health are our top priorities. For your pet’s protection, proof of vaccination is required. For a healthy environment and prevention of air borne disease, our kennel has separate heating and cooling systems from the rest of the hospital. We hand walk your pet outside at least twice daily. We encourage you to bring special foods and medications that your pet needs. You may also want to take advantage of this time to request giving your pet a bath before going home, a chore that most owners don’t like to do.
Grooming is necessary for people and pets. Our grooming department is trained to check your pet for signs of illness, skin irritations, or other obvious problems. If a problem is noted, an appointment may be set up so the doctor can discuss solutions with you. Keep film in your camera. Your pet will look prettier and act proud when it greets you after being groomed.
Gum disease and other dental problems often cause bad breath in pets. We offer complete dental care, including check-ups, cleaning and polishing, and even root canal therapy. We also stock a wide variety of dental care products to use to help keep your pets breath smelling fresh, along with a wide variety of other products for your pets overall health needs.

Dont reccomend this place at all i took small breed dog into him to just get a rabbies shot and he ended up picking my dog up by his neck and slamming him down on a table right infront of me, my wife and my 7month old son And the tech thats was helping Yes i have an older Chihuahua that i have to muzzle because he likes to snip, BUT if your going to do that to my animal like that infront of me what does he do to ones that are behind closed doors??

Super nice, clean, and friendly. I spent more than I wanted to on my dogs shots, and I didn't even get all the "recommended" stuff. They lured me in with the $1 exam.

I took my dog in on a Friday because she had a dew claw that was partially ripped off playing and it was sticking out to the side. I had brought her in for this issue before on her other foot and they took the nail off, bandaged her up and I took her home with no issues. This time I brought her in and paid $60 for the examination of which i was told that since it was 4:15 I'd need to bring her in first thing Monday to perform the procedure to get the nail removed. This procedure was going to involve putting her under and removing nail since "it could involve complications and would probably bleed a lot". I was ok with the decision because hes the expert but a little confused since this was the same problem I had brought her in for just 8 months ago and it was taken care of right away with no complications and it's been fine since. I did ask for an estimate of how much the procedure was going to cost and they told me that they would have one ready for me Monday morning. Again, I thought it was odd that I had to wait til it was time for the procedure to get my estimate. Anyways, I took my dog home that day and was just looking a little closer at her claw and noticed that it was just attached by half of the nail and would just need a little trim of the nail to get it off. I'm not a licensed vet but I just paid one $60 to tell me that he wanted to put her under to remove this nail which would have been completely unnecessary and I'm sure costly. To top it all off, shortly after I saw what needed to be done, the nail fell off on its own. When I called in on the Monday of my apt, I asked for the estimate they told me would be ready to see what I was going to be charged and they told me they needed me to bring her in to examine her and see what needed to be done first and then they could give me the estimate. WHAT DID I PAY $60 FOR ON FRIDAY??? My bill from Friday says that it was for the examination but now I'm being told I had to bring her in to examine her to see what all needed to be done. If someone would have looked at the nail like I did on my own, I would hope a simple clip of the nail would have been done right away but no one looked at it close enough. Instead I was told we needed to put her under to remove a nail that fell off on its own less than an hour after I left their office!!! To me this feel like someone who cares more about making money off a patient than actually doing what is best for the animal. I'd really love to hear their explanation on this situation because it was the sketchiest experience I've ever had with a pet. Until then I won't be taking my dog back and I won't be recommending this place to anyone else who needs an honest vet for their pet.

From the front desk, Kristy, to the vet techs like Michael, to Dr Van Horn, the staff is awesome. They are always so kind to me, understand my situations, and genuinely care about the health of my animals. Yes they do get busy but they always recommend another excellent place for last minute emergenices I do appreciate that they recognize that they cannot over commit. They always give me advice if I need it. 100% recommend this place!
