Unpleasant experience. I'm preparing to move back to college and needed a bike chain put on my bicycle before leaving. I own a leisure bike that is in excellent shape considering it is 10 years old. Was referred to Oneota River Cycles because someone had seen the store once while driving by (nice bikes in the window). I drove an hour there to get a chain (three weeks in advance). Was told impatiently by the clerk that he was too busy with RAGBRAI but if I came back after the event he would put the bike chain on and loan me a bike rack as well--all for a very good price. My mother drove another hour back up there two days before I moved in order to get my chain and the bike rack the clerk said he would hold for me. Upon arrival the clerk, unfriendly once more, said the bike rack wouldn't work for a female bike (being a female he surely would've assumed I rode a female bike, yes?). In fact he refused to work on my bike at all! He said that he needed to do too much to "fix" it (cables, brakes, etc.)...all I went in there for was a chain. He also refused to work on it because he didn't like the brand (I didn't care, all I wanted was a bike chain put on). He did offer to put it back in the car, however--and left me hanging! Perhaps Oneota River Cycles should have a disclaimer on their front door that lists which bicycles are deemed decent enough for them to put bike chains on. Ended up going to a bike shop on the other end of town that delivered much better results. This is the first negative review I've given, but I warn potential patrons. Perhaps Oneota River Cycles has pretty bicycles in the window--but don't expect decent customer service once you walk in. In fact, don't expect service at all.

They've always kept my bikes in good condition. The owner, Deke, is a real expert on local MTB trails also.
