Hi I’m a kid that was taken to this camp by force when I was 17.  I’m writing this review in hopes that it saves at least one kid from having to suffer through this.  The treatment here should be illegal and they barely take care of their students at all. I was underfed, hungry and dirty for my entire 12 week stay.  After I came back all my problems actually got much and I tried to cut off my family completely because they had sent me here.  Finally over the past couple weeks I’m managing to forgive them understanding that they did not know fully what they were signing me up for.  All the kids I’ve talked to from the camp since I got out have all relapsed.  DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!!

Insane cult, tricks desperate parents into PAYING for their kids to hike around the desert out with drifters, people who live out of their cars,  wannabe "therapists", and its run by an old buddhist hippie dressed like a cowboy.

I am way overdue on writing this review.  I cannot say enough about what Open Sky has done for my daughter and for our family.  I could not imagine seeing my daughter laughing, having fun, taking responsibility and recovering from depression.  Open Sky has started us in this direction and while I know that my daughter's depression will be a long term challenge, it was their team that got us started in the right direction.  Our ability to handle and care for our daughter had become hopeless because we just did not have the tools or understanding to deal with her challenges. They identified these tools for her and us and got us the start we needed.  I am thankful everyday for the work that they did with our daughter.  

We were referred to Open Sky by an educational consultant that we hired who specializes in therapeutic schools and programs.  We have participated in their family therapy programs as well.  I could go on forever.   We are so lucky to have found them.

Open Sky wilderness therapy works. Their program blends aspects of nature, meditation and good dietary practices to help kids get closer to and deal with their issues. Kids come out of Open Sky markedly different than when they came in. This is truly a life altering experience for many kids. I know, because I saw how it changed them. I did not believe it was possible for adolescent boys to be so reflective on their issues and take responsibility for their lives. Open Sky is generally the first step in this process. Many kids need to go on to after care, that is a therapeutic boarding school or other environment to cement the practices they have learned. The staff genuinely cares about the kids there and stays are typically between 8-12 weeks. This program changed my son's life.
