I was put in touch with Operation Catnip through the Alachua County Animal Services, I wanted to adopt 1 or 2 barn cats to help me control the rat, mouse and squirrel populaton on my property. They brought me 2 cats, a large crate and 2 boxes for them to hide in and gave me detailed instructions on how to acclimate them to my property, their new home. All this at no charge to me. Following their instructions to keep them confined for 2 to 4 weeks, I now have 2 beautiful cats that have been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. I am so grateful to them. I would recommend this organization to anyone looking for barn cats. These are not house cats, they are working cats. They make it possible for Ferrell cats to be saved from starvation and sickness, and at the same time keep them from reproducing, therefore reducing the number of unwanted cats on the streets.

Operation Catnip is a great program however the director Audrey Garrison has NO empathy for me a veteran , my service dog and my HOME which is being damaged by these cats.It can be a successful program if the people who have all these cats get them ALL fixed but when you only do a few and the cats multiply are sick and damaging many homes it has failed Ms.Garrison thinks it is ok threatening me with arrest if I remove the cats that clawed me and my service dog.I have an IV Port. She told me she was coming in two to three weeks to catch and fix all these animals to many to count and will return them to our neighborhood despite many neighbors objections.Let me be clear that I love animals but I love my home too!!!My dog cannot play freely in his own yard which smells like cat urine .If these people want all these cats let them protect them and us who do not want them on our property and put up a cat fence .I am now the bad person receiving threats for what protecting MY home and MY dog .I asked them if they would like to pay for cat Deterants but no response.
