I came in on 4/21/15 at my own request to have a medication consult with Michelle Matlock who is the PA for Dr. Rogers. I had begun physical therapy and the PT clinic was also working on putting my hips back into alignment. Ms. Matlock presented as being totally disinterested in my increased pain and stated that Dr. Rogers would say, ‘No pain, no gain.’ I find this to be a very strange and unprofessional statement and attitude from a “pain management” doctor and clinic. We talked about the muscle relaxer that I knew worked but my insurance wouldn’t cover. She said that she would write one for Flexeril because she didn’t know what drugs my insurance covered. When I told her that Flexeril knocks me out for over twelve hours and I can’t be knocked out like that, she told me that I could cut them in half, and would have to decide to be knocked out or be in pain. I don’t consider that GOOD “pain management” . Ms. Matlock also chided me for only going to PT once a week. I explained that PT told me I was only supposed to come once a week. She wrote a new script and circled the 2 or 3x per week as I had offered to go try to schedule another appointment for the week. When I left Dr. Rogers’ office, I went to the PT where I was told that I would have to wait while the girl checked to see if my PT guy would allow me to come more than once a week, her assuring me that I was only supposed to be coming once a week. I’m not sure WHY those offices think different things, or WHO I’m supposed to listen to! PT did agree to have me come twice a week. I do LIKE the PT clinic at this location. They all seem interested in my pain level and THEY tell me that if I’m hurting, to back off. They have never said that I am supposed to have pain to have gain. When Ms. Matlock decided she’d done enough for me by sending a prescription for a medicine I did not want, she sent me on my way . She didn’t offer me anything else for my pain even though I had explained that the Tramadol wasn’t touching the pain after the PT, especially working on my hip alignment. I told her that I had cried myself to sleep after my last appointment. I think it is inhumane not to help someone who is in pain when they ask for help. Especially when that’s your entire job. I have been totally compliant with everything asked of me. I have no history of drug abuse and there’s no indication that I’m at risk for it. I pee in the cup like I’m asked to do. I do the cheek swabs like I’m asked to do. I come to my appointments and do my PT and my exercises at home as I am asked to do. I see no reason at all that I should have to be in pain. I shouldn’t have to be afraid of being up all night crying from pain with no relief. THESE are the circumstances that make me understand why a person would turn to the street for drugs. I feel belittled and humiliated and I am not at all a happy, or pain-controlled patient. I will be calling My primary care physician, Dr. Jackson, to ask her if I can get a referral to a more compassionate pain doctor.

Extremely frustrated by the post-service contacts I have received from here. I had recently moved out on my own for the first time, and this was the first medical need that had come up that I would deal with completely on my own. They assured me they would help me throughout the process and supply me with any information I needed about my billing and what would or wouldn't be covered. The service in and of itself was great, and I finally received a diagnosis for a chronic problem that I had struggled with for years, and temporary relief for it (cortisone shot) along with options for long-term (surgical) relief. The problems started a few weeks after my visit, as I was still mulling surgery options. Between then (late-Jan) and now, I have received six seperate and completely varied bills in the mail regarding the services. After the first two I called to see if there was a mix-up with my insurance information, and there was. Four randomly priced billing statements later, they called and told me my account was being sent to collections. They said my most recent billing statement was the truly correct one (which is hard for me to believe with 5 previous bills that obviously weren't) and that I had owed it the entire time. When I had explained to her that I was assured by a front-desk associate, a customer service associate, and the physician-assistant that my insurance info all worked the first time around, and that my insurance company covered my procedures such as the MRI and x-ray (which are the bulk of the new bill) she said she worked in billing and those actions weren't her issue. When I asked if anyone from OASWO planned to issue an apology for all the mistakes they had made in the information they provided and the multiple billing mistakes, she said that wasn't her place or problem. When I explained to her that I was a broke college kid and had no money to pay a bill like that outright, she said then they would just send my account to collections and would garnish it out of my wages. I only just found out online that a payment plan was an option for my allegedly-accurate new balance, which she had made no mention of over the phone. Other than the threat of sending my account to collections, I have not received a single outreach from OASWO about their mistakes, even though I have left plenty of phone calls and inquiries for them and have had them document these mistakes. So now I'm stuck with slowly attempting to pay off what I am pretty sure is a false balance (I won't be remotely surprised if they try to include interest as well) without an ounce of good faith from the company. Not even flawless service was worth the miserable headache of dealing with OASWO. Maybe it's reasonable if you're older than me or have someone helping you through the corporate-web that is OASWO and their Billing policies. Like I said, the service in and off itself was absolutely great, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Everything else, for me, borderlines nightmare. And the worst part of this ends up being that I now need knee surgery, and don't even remotely trust this company to do it, because I have no idea what I will be billed if I would have them preform it.
