In 2022, I was placed on an involuntary 72 hour hold by another hospital. It was extremely unwarranted and I was threatened with physical violence and had my human rights violated. That hospital sent me to the inpatient facility at Owatonna. Based on the experience at Buffalo, I was extremely standoffish. I was hysterical. I told them I would not speak with them, I would not let them touch me, I wanted to call my family because buffalo would not let me contact my family and they actually trespassed my entire family from their hospital for literally no reason after my family convinced me to just stay and do what they asked. The nurse was taken aback and asked what happened and I explained and she basically said “oh my god, I’m so sorry. We won’t do that here. We’re going to help you.” And something in her voice made me believe her. I think it took a day and a half maybe to talk to the psychiatrist, but he’s the reason I’m writing this review. He released me before the 72 hour hold was up and said he didn’t believe I needed to be there. He joked with me. I even made jokes that other psychs might’ve held me longer for making and when I ended with a “whoops, shouldn’t have let that one slip” he laughed with me and said no, it shows me you have a healthy coping mechanism. He really just talked to me like a human being and that’s not something I’ve dealt with in my 15 years of experience being treated for mental health conditions. He also went out of his way to call my primary care doctor and tell her he thought she was doing a great job with the medication aspect of my treatment, and when I saw her again she was really surprised he did that and said it was really nice. I don’t remember his name, but I wanted to write this review just to give him a little recognition because he deserves it. I’ve met with probably 10-12 psychiatrists in my life and he was by far the kindest, smartest, most human psychiatrist I’ve met.
Absolutely The Number 1 place I recommend for health emergencies or Issues. I live near Rochester and drive an Hour to Owatonna because of how caring the Staff is and the Doctors really know what they are doing and make sure you leave knowing your next steps and feeling better. Dr. Knutson is by far the best I've had in my life. I've had tooth infection before but he stopped the spread and pain quickly and set me up with an oral surgeon. Thank you
My family member had a shoulder replacement and received amazing care!Nurses were over the top attentive. We were listened to and had quick responses. So grateful for amazing facilities and caregivers!!!
I've never seen such neglect and unwillingness to help patients like this before. I think allot of the staff I refuse to call em doctors because doctors actually help patients should remember the Oath they took and apply it.
I repeatedly asked to see the doctor and repeatedly demanded to be discharged, yet requests were ignored by multiple hospital personnel. In fact, I was not seen by the doctor for nearly 32 hours, despite multiple requests to be seen. I was released an hour after seeing a doctor. I will actively avoid Allina Hospitals after this event. I will be contacting the State of MN Dept of Health for them to follow up on this as they didn't follow MN statues and the fact that they held me against my will. Looks like there are many similar reviews, maybe it's time for a class action.
I was just released from the Owatonna Hospital after spending 4 days there. I was so very impressed with my nursing care. Beth was my day nurse and was there for three of the days on 12 hour shifts. She was so pleasant and compassionate and so very kind. She had a smile on her face and did everything in her power to make me comfortable. Her bed side manner was impeccable. My night nurse Tad was awesome as well and I could tell that both of them truly love being nurses. My day nurse today was Brianna and she was training in Kaitlyn. Brianna was so positive and also so kind. She is a great nurse and she was doing an awesome job showing the ropes to a newbie, she was helpful and caring and explained things so well. I was so impressed. Nurses aren’t getting much for kudos these days and they deserve it. They work very hard at a very hard job. These nurses made my stay tolerable and I am so thankful for the excellent care
IF AN EMERGENCY GO TO THE CITIES NOT THIS ER!! Came here last night at 9:30 due to Covid symptoms and left at 12:30. Ended up sitting in the lobby for 2 hours than waited for a doctor just to come and say he forgot supplies and used my phone to check my throat. I haven’t been able to keep food or liquid down without puking it up. I’ve been feeling very dehydrated and not once was I even offered an IV after waiting all that time the doctor just checked my throat and gave me at home remides. After being there for so long all I wanted to do was leave but once again had to wait about 40 minutes just to get paper work so I can leave. Don’t ever go to the ER here especially if it’s a real emergency. Healthcare in America really makes me lose faith cause I feel for the help I got the amount of money that came through my insurance to pay it is very unreasonable.
The emergency room is such unreliable place. My wife went there because of stroke symptoms of speech and her headache she has had since Nov 30th 2022. The read her radiology reports. They said it was a hole in her spine that was causing all the symptoms. Find out today from her pain specialist that she did have stroke and she doesn't have a hole her spine. We thought we would go there give them chance again. They just failed again. Don't trust this hospital.
Allina misdiagnosed my cancer. Thankfully, Mayo Clinic got it right and saved my life. I will NEVER go to any Allina affiliate for any type of health care. Response to Allina: interesting how you care now, when I make the issue public. But no need to discuss further, there is no possible way I would trust you with my healthcare ever again. We are done here.
Around Christmas we took our daughter here for stomach pain, hip pain, and a fever. Diagnosed with constipation after an abdominal x-ray. Her condition progresses and we come back again about a month later with hip pain, arm pain and a fever. After blood diagnostics, it’s determined that we should be seen at childrens in Minneapolis for a possible cancer diagnosis. I would recommend strongly that you think twice about using this hospital if your condition is going to require any type of analysis.
