Pearl Street Cafe is Chef Dan Slobodien's comeback venture to Metuchen, so it was very exciting to go and try the kitchen of a sophisticated hand. The first time there, they impressed us with the food, especially with the Argentinian Gaucho Steak which was soft and melting with every bite. This prompted us to invite more people to try the small, comfy and simply decorated cafe. This time, the hamburgers were nothing to write home about but we insisted in going back with other people a third time. Unfortunately, no one was impressed with even the Gaucho Steak -that was chewy, or their Onion soup that was just ok. What gives? Do the rotate cooks?

Just ate dinner here tonight and the texan burger was phenomenal. The sweet potato fries were great too!! Defintely going to come back.

Got the mac and cheese with bacon (didn't want the tomatoes). Best meal of my life. Definitely recommend eating here!

If you haven't checked out Pearl Street Cafe, you're missing something special. Chef Dan always presents an interesting selection, and we've thoroughly enjoyed every meal we've had at Pearl Street Cafe. Great food, excellent value, and pleasant atmosphere!

Creative and casual menu from Metuchen famous chef Dan (formerly if Dan's on Main). We tried several excellent dishes. Barley and mushroom soup, pulled pork poutine, Mac and cheese, Green Goddess turkey burger, house made pastrami Reuben, waffle with maple ice cream.
