Today I was very upset after speaking with two people from this office. I hadn't been to see Dr. Ripple since December 2014, so yes I was about a month overdue. However, I didn't realize this until I ran out of my prescription which I have been taking for a few years now. I called the office to see if I can get it refilled for the month in the meantime and schedule an appointment. I made an appointment for February 12th but was told by the person who answered the phone as well as an MA that I wouldn't be able to have the RX filled until after I saw Dr. Ripple. This was very frustrating for me as I have been on the RX for years and it treats an irritating skin condition and it has an anti-anxiety component to it as well. I stressed this to those on the phone and they said they would check and call me back. I received a call back a few minutes later and was told in a very non-empathetic way that I wouldn't get my RX filled until after I saw Dr. Ripple because "it's the law," which I later found out from a qualified individual was not true. So my first issue is the lie. My second issue is the abrasive way I was spoken too. As a patient, I feel that both individuals should maybe have found out something I could have done in the meantime, such as an over-the-counter drug that could ease my symptoms. I know they may not be qualified to make recommendations, but I'm sure someone in that office could have. Or maybe, they could have acted like they cared. Never have I been so upset after talking to someone from a doctor's office. I called my primary care doctor to see if they could help me and had the complete opposite experience than I had with Dermatology Associates. I have been going to this practice since elementary school, and I will now be going somewhere else.
