This place is a joke. I gave them my Brunello Sweater with a fresh coffee stayin for a imidiate service. I got informed that they will take care of it ASAP and it will be ready whithin three days. After 7 days they called me that they didn't even start- everyone knows that in case of the coffee stain you have to react fast so after 7 days of waiting my 750$ sweater is ruined. The staff in the store was helpful but employees at the plant responsible for the whole situation were rude and cynical. All in all they didn't even start washing my sweater as after 7 days I decided that I will not risk it further with this incompetence.. There are far better places in SF

If you enjoy having your clothes destroyed and then treated like a criminal then take you clothes here. I was a loyal customer of Peninou for 20 years and gave their business thousands of dollars over that time to clean more than 700 items. During those 20 years I never complained or made a claim. Then two weeks ago I took in an expensive gown It had never been worn and was only worn a few hours at a wedding where it got a few stains on the hem. I took it to Peninou two days later to clean. It was returned to me in a ruined state and a different color with stains intact. I complained and was contacted by a customer service person who was rude . I then contacted their General Manager who acknowleged my 20 years of patronage and 718 items cleaned and that the gown had been ruined by their processing but he only offered me a "store credit" worth one quarter of the price I had paid for the dress even though their own published policy allowed them to pay out ten times the $200 cleaning charge. When I insisted that they compensate me for the price of the dress he refused and said I could try my luck in small claims court.. I am disapointed that this business would treat a very loyal customer for many years in such a poor way.

I'm the fiance of Patricia E who filed a positive review in May 2010. We have changed our mind about Peninou - that's for sure! Nearly four months after I took a Zegna suit jacket to Peninou to repair a minor thread pull, they claimed it was brought to them with a big hole and could not be repaired. False. Our read is that someone screwed up the attempt and ruined the jacket. Rather than "own up" and offer fair compensation for the suit, they concocted this story, months after the fact, and ran from responsibility. This establishment wants you to believe they are the best and their prices are stratospheric. Do not be misled - they are just hype, not value.

Peninou French Laundry & Cleaners is on a bit more expensive than other cleaners, but overall, when I have something that I particularly care about, Peninou has reliably cleaned my clothes. Specifically, I take all of my white and tan pants to Peninou for dry cleaning. Other cleaners have returned my white pants looking a bit yellow, but Peninou has cleaned my whites looking as good as new -- stains gone with no yellow. Recently I had both a tan and white pants cleaned which had been soiled by greasy foods...stains completely gone and looking as good as new!
