This has been my neighborhood library for over 40 years. I grew up riding my bike here with friends and continue visiting to this day. I loved it then and I love it now. It is cozy and welcoming - to me the perfect size. The staff is helpful and friendly. I appreciate the ability to search the library website for books and place holds on them for pick up at PL. I actually can’t think of any negatives. 👍

The library staff is really friendly (even offering to give me a tour when they learned it was my first time in). It's not a big library, but it makes use of the space pretty well and the decor makes it feel pretty cozy. The selection isn't as large as the nearby Southdale library, but it's enough to find something interesting. The only downside is that the library closes at five most evenings, but that's a problem that plagues many small libraries due to slashed state funding. Still, it's a good library if you just want to stop in and grab a book or work for a few hours.

Penn Lake library is outstanding in every respect. You won't find a better library anywhere in the country.

I don't want to knock on libraries, but Bloomington libraries are a pretty good representation of what happens when the internet comes along. It's a small, quiet library. The staff is great. If you want a quiet place to study it's good. If you want a huge book selection, I would go somewhere else.
