I enrolled my daughter here 2 years ago and she only did half year for both years. The academic advisors and teachers were very nice and helpful. But they didn't put her transfer grades in until the end of the year which messed everything up. The way they grade everything is very confusing. The mini point quizzes are a waste of time because they don't even put them in the gradebook. The AKA assignments are very long and stressful. The computers that they give the students are just terrible. She had her first full year this year which is the worst year she has had. The computer she has always ends up freezing and having to restart it all the time she's on it. The classes that she is taking now are long and hard because she had limited classes to take because of specific reasons which messed up her education. The teacher's she has are very rude and don't help her as well as the academic advisor she has. Overall, this school was okay at the beginning but now I would say this is the worst school she has went to. If you want to enroll your child here I wouldn't recommend it because it will mess up your child's education and etc.
They're making things much more difficult for the parents and sometimes the students. Changing things up, more complicated. My kids teachers changing and advisors... I don't know how they have a high scores. Somethings not right with the scores. Teachers are good for the most part, but the workload for the parents is much more than a full time job. I can do it much more simply and effective. Learning is suppose to be fun and enriching, not tedious. All the testing, not enough practice.. Honestly I think the great ratings are fabricated.
I was a student at PA Cyber and attended for a year. At first i thought it was a fantastic school to go to but when they kept calling my house telling my mother lies about me and even failing me even though i tried my best i had an I. E. P teacher there who was no help to me at all. PA Cyber is not a good school to go to because they don't give you a chance to learn from your mistakes and they don't have the best help there. i recommend attending to a better cyber school then PA Cyber. i believe that every child deserves a chance to pass on to the future.
This school is okay. Some teachers are horrendous and totally are a disgrace to teaching, while others are amazing. Some teachers go above and beyond for their students and [like i mentioned earlier] some teachers just don't care about their students and don't try hard. The blended classrooms are not that good. They basically have to teach themselves the curriculum, and the teacher only goes over one topic at random per week. If you are ahead of the blended classroom, when you go to class you're basically rehashing what you learned 2 weeks ago. Why go forward to take 5 steps back? The Applied Knowledge Assessments are completely ridiculous! I don't know how doing a PowerPoint in math is of any use. There's a big, stupid project every 3 lessons that requires at least 2 hours of time that no student has because the work piles on everyday!! Depending on the teacher, when you ask questions about these projects they just send you a copy of the original confusing directions!! The computer grading system messes up a lot, too. They give a correct reason on why that answer choice would be wrong, but yet it selects that as the right choice. On the other hand, the virtual classes are pretty good.depending what teacher you have The work load is much less because it's an actual teacher assigning it. Blackboard Collaborate crashes quite often and 'kicks' students out of class. I wish there was a webcam setting so the teachers can see the kids not paying attention. There is nothing more annoying than a teacher calling on, and waiting for a student to answer for 30 minutes when the student got up to make nachos. For the most part, the teachers are kind, and help out the best they can. Their office hours are extremely helpful, It's nice to have a lesson planned out everyday to teach you, instead of making you fend for yourself. The extracurricular activities at this school are okay, I guess. I mean, they only include major cities in Pennsylvania, so if you aren't close to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, or Philadelphia you can pretty much never go to anything. They do try their best to include every county, but there are barely any things, and barely any people show up unless you're in a major city. The tech-support gets really irritating. Some of the technicians are really unhelpful, and sometimes make your situation worse. They expect you to go without doing schoolwork for like a month while they repair your computer. If you don't have a separate computer, and your problem isn't that significant, DON'T CALL! I'm rating this school 3 stars because it isn't the absolute worst school, but it isn't the best. They can use some improvements, but over all it's an okay-pretty good school for the most part.
Our daughter spent 6 years with Pa. Cyber, a fantastic school, great teachers and fabulous instructional supervisors. The classes were tailor made for her and the staff was extremely kind and understanding. We were thrilled that school was available!
I have been going here for over 2 years now and it is the worst school I have ever been in. And I've even been in river rock academy. In that school, I could've graduated 2 years ago early but yesterday I had to restart my senior year because they screwed with my grades. They said I was done last school year right before school let out, just to throw me back into school again. I gave birth 8 months ago and they only gave me 3 DAYS OFF WHEN I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL LONGER THAN THAT!!! And after my birth of my son, I had to go to physical therapy because my abdominal muscles split into two and my pelvis was also separated. They still didn't let me off school. And in turn, I missed a lot of school which were not excused causing me to become behind. I call them and email them like crazy and they hardly ever give me an answer. A lot of things are misspelled and incorrect on the quizzes and what not. Everything about PA cyber is extremely unprofessional and quite frankly, I regret enrolling to this school. It has ruined a lot of things in my life. Please don't send your kids here. I am a responsible, hardworking, intelligent young lady and I feel like I didn't get an education since being enrolled to this program. It hurts so bad...
We loved this school! It was the best thing that could have ever happened to my son for his high school years! He is now on his last semester in college for Computer Engineering and he's at the top of his class. It was a great foundation for him in learning and a safe place for him to learn as well!
Both my kids are in Pa Cyber now for the 2nd year they are getting straight A's and did so last year. It's so much more UNcomplicated then a B&M school. My kids love going to school everyday and there is never a complaint. The teachers and other staff are very helpful. Wasn't crazy about the principal on somethings so I went above his head to the CEO and he made sure everything was corrected. I personally love this school I do however HATE BUZZ the new website they work off of. I loved Brain Honey much better much easier and less complex
It's nice with all of the time you have out of school. But my 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Harvey is so lazy, he doesn't even teach, barely gives anything graded. I hate him. He blows me off everytime I ask him something and I have a c in his class and I'm a good student! The teachers are eh here. The blended classes have NOTHING to do with the lessons, so I literally teach myself every singe time. But my Algebra 1 class is good, Mr. Rhodes- great teacher. But he never gives feedback to graded assignments. But I really like the idea of it and the organization. With no stupid classes. Just pure learning.
My Son is going on his 3rd year with PA Cyber. The staff, the teachers and everyone I have ever had contact with are so very nice and very respectful and understanding. My youngest will definitely be enrolled in this school when he is ready!
