Dr. Shirley is a very competent veterinarian, and makes Healthcare accessible for our animals in his reasonable cost, the staff has changed and the friendly accessibility has diminished.

I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I went there seeking help for my dog. She was biting, sometimes situational and other times it seemed to come out of no where. I brought her in to see if medicine would help with her anxiety which seemed to be a possible reason for her biting. (Back story: my dog was adopted by my sister when she was 6month old. She had always been a little off despite coming off as a very loving and lovable dog. Sometimes she would just snap and bite. Eventually it go to the point that she was endangering my nephews, so I took over.) Getting her, we tried going to the vet, this vet I'm writing about, first time I saw the Veterinary she pointed the finger at us for her biting that she needed more training and to lose weight. She gave us medicine, but the medicine was for predicting her behavior, despite us telling them it wasn't always predictable. My dog's biting got worst and more unpredictable, despite the training, the weight lose, and the medication. My dog no longer was around children, she lived on a farm, and had consistency with training and diet. We trained her, she lost weight, and gave her, her medicine when she showed signs of anxiety. Yet she still kept biting. It broke me, and when I called the Veterinary saying, "My dog is now an endanger to people. She's lost the weight, we've had her trained, and her medicine isn't helping. If there is no other medicine that she might be able to take to help her we're going to have to put her down." When they called back all they offered was some more suggestions for trainers. We ended up having to put our dog down. We instead went to the Human Society in Boise. The Veterinary there was amazing and so supported. It was clear to this Veterinary in Boise that our dog needed to be put down. She explained that it was possible when my dog was originally rescued that before hand she wasn't properly socialized and as a result had an anxiety problem that caused her to be aggressive. We were so emotional about the situation but the Human Society, in Boise, their Veterinary showed more compassion and understanding of our situation than the Veterinary at Pet Health Clinic. Veterinary at Pet Health Clinic vocalized that the dog was biting because of x,y, and z, and made excuses that my dog was biting for a reason, and blamed us. I had just got my dog at the time and I was proactively seeking help so I didn't have to put her down. I sure didn't want to have to put my dog down and I believe that they could have either prepared us for it or offered better medical help.

I am very particular about who takes care of my Princess. Dr. Shirley rates very high in our house because of his bed side manner with Piper and me. I would highly recommend him as a Vet.

They are upfront about what they are doing and will answer all your questions, my dog went in for a checkup and to check out her teeth told me what needs to be done and what doesn't have to be done.
