While this Pet Valu itself is great, their groomer, Mandi, is absolutely terrible. We took our Pug and Husky Mix in for a full groom over the weekend and were optimistic that this would be a nice back up to our actual groomer. Our appointment was for 9:30AM but were told at the last minute that she needed to change the time to 1:30PM due to a "family emergency". This was incredibly inconvenient for us but our dogs desperately needed bathed so we made it work. 

Mandi greeted us very loudly and aggressively and while she asked what we wanted done, she just talked over us and seemed uninterested in what we were saying. Our mix is a rescue and is prone to peeing on the floor in new places/around new people (especially ones that talk/shout as loudly as Mandi does). She was shaking very badly,  peed a little, and was clawing at the door (she is nervous in closed rooms). 

While my fiance was filling out the new customer paperwork, I was trying to calm her down and was immediately chastised by Mandi for encouraging her behavior. She told me several times, very condescendingly, that she is a dog trainer (like that's impressive) and that she knew what she was talking about and I shouldn't be touching her. I think I know my dog better she does and if she had let me get a word in, I would have explained that our dog has been to training and that we do work with her regularly on her nervous behavior and that she has made incredible progress from when we first rescued her so she can mind her own goddamned business and stop telling me not to comfort my dog. 

I was immediately turned off and if we had any other choice, I would have just taken them somewhere else right then but we were stuck and our day had been turned upside down with her sudden time change (which was actually not a family emergency but she claimed she wasn't feeling well that morning).

We were quoted $30 for the pug and $70 for our mix (which is average, especially with all her hair). We ended up being charged $90 for the mix because she was "difficult" when they were brushing her out. She didn't bite anyone, we were just told that she "didn't like being brushed". Of course she doesn't; she has never liked being brushed and if Mandi had actually listened to us, she would have know that. They did give us a coupon for five whole dollars...thanks, I guess? I have never heard of a groomer who charges extra because an animal doesn't like something. 

When we picked our dogs up, they literally broke down the baby gate at the door to get to us. They are always happy when we pick them up but they have never been so happy to get out of a groomer like that before. They were so upset and ready to go, I have to wonder what happened during the 3+ hours that they were there. 

Before we left, Mandi lectured us some more on how to introduce brushes to her. Thanks for the brilliant advice, she's only our dog that we've had for years...honestly, we've just been throwing brushes at her face and never understood why she didn't like it. Genuis! She also proceeded to tell us that she isn't a husky and we gave her the wrong information. DNA tests and seeing one of her siblings kind of said that she is a husky mix but again, she was a rescue so we do the best we can with what little background we were given on her. 

Needless to say, Mandi sucks and we will not be returning. Aside from her attitude, she didn't even cut our mix's hair very well--she has a lot of uneven tufts on her back and what she actually did cut was just okay (shaving a dog's ass...can't really screw that up too much). Lesson learned, don't switch groomers. If you want an actual groomer who likes dogs, pets them, doesn't lock them away in a tiny room, go to Pawtimore!!

Great selection of pet products and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The store manager is always particularly nice and helpful when it comes to helping find good products for our dog.

Staff is friendly and super helpful. They partner with the local animal shelter and I got my Charlie Cat from there.

Such a great little pet store with a the friendliest staff! They have a very extensive selection of products at fair prices.

Friendly staff and a great selection of products. Plus there are always some cute cats up for adoption you can spend a little time with when you visit.
