My daughter is in her second year at Phoenix and is thriving!  The Montessori environment, as well as the committed teaching staff, is a great way to introduce children to concrete and abstract concepts.  At the age of 4, my daughter has confidently worked her way through phonics and is starting to read and has tackled decimals. In addition to the academic curriculum, I have enjoyed watching my daughter learn Spanish, science, and I'm eager for her to grow into the elementary curriculum.  The curriculum and mixed age classroom has really enhanced her love of learning and made her very enthusiastic for attending school every day.

I appreciate that students circulate through the classrooms to experience working with a variety of students as well as teaching staff.  It adds a level of flexibility and well-roundedness to my daughter's education that I didn't expect when I enrolled her at Phoenix.  

The cozy and enthusiastic atmosphere at the school underscores how fortunate that I feel that my daughter is learning and growing here.

Phoenix is a truly exceptional school run by committed, brilliant teachers. As a teacher with many years of experience, I often see people in my profession take short cuts and do marginal work, yet the teachers at Phoenix are truly outstanding professionals who always do fantastic work and bring out the very best in their students. My children thrive at Phoenix and continue to impress us with their burgeoning skills. We are so glad that we found Phoenix for our children and feel very grateful to the staff.

Our daughter was challenged by traditional preschool.  The warm, organized and intellectually dynamic atmosphere of Phoenix helped her blossom.  She learned to explore, she learned to work with others, she made friends and she became a voracious reader - all before her kindergarten year!

We couldn't be more pleased with the experiences that our kids have had at Phoenix for the last 3 years.  The engagement, passion for learning, and self-motivation that our 4 and 6 year olds display with Ms. Blackford and her staff are unbelievable.  The Montessori methods and tools are stunningly effective.  And, the community of teachers, parents, and alums make Phoenix a truly special place.  You won't find a more committed group of teachers in Kansas City and Ms. Blackford makes sure that the teaching methods and practices of her staff and students would bring tears to Maria Montessori's eyes.
