Cool place. I'm sure it's packed in the summer. We went in the snow yesterday. Only people there.

Love the trail and the view from Devil's Backbone. Well maintained, winding along two merging streams.

It's very beautiful! But it's no longer "Indiana's best kept secret" as our Indiana Nature Conservancy Guide to Indiana Nature Preserves book touted. It was totally packed. We counted 25 cars in the lot. You now have to enter from Shades State Park, as they seem to have annexed it. Too bad. It would be a lovely place for some peace and quiet. It is gorgeous, just the busiest nature preserve we've ever visited.

Very Interesting short hikes big payoff for little effort. Bring clothes and shoes to play in stream. You can just do north loop for shorter walk. I would insist an adult supervise crossing the backbones if children are present. Turkey backbone would be a rough slide and recovery. Devils backbone would result In a series injury or death. Honeycomb rock is a great place to stop and eat/play/take nap. Not crowded when we were here. No camping.

Very rugged for Indiana. Devils Backbone was awesome. Parking is in Shades now for those that haven't been in years like me.
