Story

Planet Fitness is known for a lot of things. We’ve got tons of equipment, clean and spacious locker rooms, and the friendliest staff around. We’re also the home of the Judgement Free Zone®, which is a somewhat fancy way of saying we’re a laid-back environment, where you don’t need to worry about that hardcore attitude you might find other places.
Even better, we’ve also got a pretty great online community where real members share real stories of Triumph. Check it out at planetoftriumphs.com

No frills gym. Staff does a good overall job of keeping clean and is generally nice as well as helpful. Would rate higher but I don't get the feeling the owners treat their staff as well as the could or should based on my experience of going here for a decade +. Great place to go to work out for the price. Not for "Hulk Hogan" types, though they do show up occasionally. Update: I've recently been to a few Planet Fitness locations out of the state and have found them to be larger, with a greater variety of equipment and offering free wi-fi. I'm not sure if the other locations in Vermont offer wi-fi, but in South Burlington they seem content to let their members "steal" access from the Fletcher Allen Health Care location in the same building. This disappoints me greatly as it is irresponsible in addition to the fact that the FAHC facility clearly knows about it and has locked down their wi-fi guest access to only work during their own working hours (which is the same thing I would do if I were them.) Update to my previous update (3/4/2018): The South Burlington location has added free wi-fi. Yay! Thanks for listening. I'll leave my previous information (the first update) in place for a while longer just so people can see that PF South Burlington is making improvements based on customer feedback as I think it's important to see that customer feedback is taken seriously.

This is the cheapest gym in the area and the only one that costs less than $55 a month, which is honestly ridiculous. It is also the only 24 hour gym that I could find in the area. For those two reasons, it will stay open. It is usually somewhat busy between 7am and 10pm, and honestly not worth going to at all between 3-7 during the week. The gym itself is awful. The inside is all purple, grey, and bright yellow, and it is hideous. There is no natural light from the small, heavily tinted windows at the front so it always feels like the middle of the night. I have not been to other Planet Fitness locations so I'm not sure if this is a franchise thing or location specific. First, the weights: there are no squat racks or bench presses, only Smith machines. There are no kettlebells, medicine balls, exercise balls, bands, boxes, or other free weight/physical therapy tools. There are no free weights more than 75 pounds. There is very little space for stretching or bodyweight exercises--at most four people at a time can use floor mats in there, although there is a weird circle of ab machines that few people use. You could probably fit eight more people if those were gone. There is no proper pull-up bar. The cardio section is marginally better. There are a bunch of treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bicycles, and a handful of stationary bikes. There are no rowing machines, stair steppers, or rope pulls. The men's locker room is extremely small for the number of lockers and traffic at the location. Whoever designed it was an idiot. They took a small space and made it even smaller by putting lockers and benches around the outside walls, giving everyone a party pit in the middle to get naked in. This gym really sucks, but there aren't other options around here unless you want to pay $60-120 a month for a gym that's only open at best from 6-8 and even shorter hours on weekends.

Friendly staff, clean machines, and hot showers. Bring your own towel. Best deal going.

The only gym I've ever been to without time limits on equipment. A low monthly cost gives you access to a clean inviting well stocked gym with extras such as tanning and massage chairs available too. Rows and rows of cardio equipment so you never have to wait long or at all. Weights can get a little crowded during peak times but open 24/7 so you can go whenever it works for you. The Black Card membership is the best deal giving you access to any of their clubs and the ability to bring a friend to help stay motivated or motivate them to join as well.
