AVOID this garage at all costs. This garage is what gives the mechanic industry a bad name. FRAUD, AND CON PEOPLE. Will totally manipulate you into purchasing more than what's needed and will refuse to release car until work he wants done I done ONLY by HIM. And when refusing his suggestions, he will become cold and give you attitude. I made a great mistake by bringing my 2009 BMW 535i here for repair. In the end, the total amount I paid was exactly $2,007.98 JUST for axle change and according to the owner's son with 5% AAA discount. $800 for LABOR! Also prepare for spam emails asking to review their work. After arriving home, noticed engine under-body panel screws were missing.
UPDATE: Received an angry phone call from the shop after posted the negative review. Says a lot about this shop.

The owner Ed & his employees are extremely detailed & have a get it done mentality that I admire.
My car is running better than ever. I feel safe & secure on the road after having my car serviced twice in the last 6 months with Platt's friendly & professional team.Plus his son Derek, has provided a few pleasant drop off /pick ups to make life easier.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Platt’s! Every time I take my car in, the team is sure to keep me fully informed every step of the way and send me detailed reports of work done. When I had transmission problems, Derek did research into my car and called the dealership to make sure I was on warranty and saved me thousands of dollars! I highly recommend this shop’s friendly, personal service and quality performance.

A couple months ago I had purchased a used 2014 Nissan Frontier pickup.  The truck was in great shape but had very high miles, however the price was right.  Problem was the rear differential had a very noticeable whine at highway speeds. So an hour on the turnpike or GSP was harsh on the ears.  Since this noise shouldn't be there, I knew this was something I couldn't let go too much longer. I started looking into options for getting it fixed.

 It turns out to be a pretty tough problem that not just any garage is willing to tackle.  You need the right tools; you need some special knowledge and ideally a good amount of experience.
Nissan wanted an arm and a leg and a couple of fingers to replace the entire rear end as is typical of a dealer service shop.  I felt I could do that myself and save on the shop fees but that was still pretty expensive, and I would need warmer weather and a full weekend to do it.  A final alternative was to have it partially or (worst case) fully rebuilt, so I started looking for an independent in the area that was well rated and was willing and able to work on differentials.

Google eventually led me to Platt's Performance Plus in Jamestown.  I emailed explaining my need and a day or so later got a reply from Ed Platt.  His response was that they fix and rebuild differentials,
which was the opposite response I got from my regular mechanic.  So I called, and Ed explained they do this kind of work regularly and he has been repairing cars for 30 years.  I set up an appointment.

When I got the truck there as scheduled, Ed's tech Anthony drove it with me and confirmed the noise.  They then got it on the lift and
pulled the diff oil plug out and we saw the dirty oil.  No doubt it needed work.  Ed was reluctant to give me a set price without looking at the inside in detail, however; he didn't want to guess at it.  So I gave it
a chance and had them pull the cover and look at the insides.

The spider gears were shot, and the bearings were worn but they felt the ring and pinion looked OK.  He could rebuild for less than just buying the whole backend.  Please get to it - fine by me I told him.  It took a couple days to get parts and they rebuilt with the old r&p.  Afterward, they found the bearing noise was gone but there was still some noise from the old r&p parts which could only come from wear despite that the parts looked fine.  Ed didn't want to give it back to me like that - he really wanted to fix it right.  Ok - it's more money for a new r&p but we're this far into it, let's get it right.  And good call.  Quiet as a church mouse as Ed put it.
The differential is basically brand new now.

I know the new Nissan r&p set he got was not cheap and they had to basically perform a second rebuild to install it,  but Ed was more than fair to me with the overall final total for parts and labor.   Ed took a bit of a chance to try to save me some money that didn't work out fully, which he then reworked to get it like he expected.  I'm certain he absorbed a hit for that rework. Which tells me he values his customers and wants them to come back and is willing to invest in that.

I think Ed and his team are really dedicated to getting things done right but with the customer in mind.  The kind of problem I brought
them is likely not something they get super often, but they tackled it with confidence and experience and I would bring the same issue to them again to fix if I ever had to.

There's no doubt I recommend Platt's Performance Plus for serious work on your vehicle.

Ed and team always do a perfect job at reasonable price. They always provide curtesy pick up and drop off even though it is little far and I don’t have to goto shop for regular oil changes. My cars are in good hands!
