My wife and I saw the Polish Village Cafe on Diners, Dine-Ins, and Dives and knew that we had to visit. We're from Florida but have family here in Michigan so when we came up to visit them we made a point to come here too. I got the Hungarian Pancake, which looked as awesome as it was on the show and tasted so much better than I even expected. My wife ordered the mushroom cutlets and they were also great. The kielbasa soup was also so good. We will return again the next time we're up here.

There's a reason for the hour-long wait on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm: this is what Polish food should taste like. Delicious, unassuming, and perfectly homey. The soup is burn-your-mouth hot and the sour cream and cucumbers are nearly frozen, just like Grandma's kitchen. The beet soup and dill pickle soup (yup, just try it) are stand-out favorites. Try the Polish Plate if you want a taste of everything or go for the city chicken (a mix of veal and pork, no actual chicken) or pork chops to satisfy any comfort food craving. Things to note: yes, there is always a long wait and no, they don't take reservations. It's worth the wait and I promise the place down the street doesn't hold a candle to Polish Village, so don't get out of line. Also, this place is old school, so make sure you've brought cash because they don't take credit cards. Luckily, the prices are amazing for the portions, so you won't exceed any ATM limits.

Delicious, authentic polish food. We ordered about half the menu between 3 people and everything was amazing. Make sure you try the City Chicken (which is actually pork), Chicken Livers, and potato pancakes. If you're getting Pieorgis go for the sweet cheese. Make sure you bring cash or a check though!

A classic! Also known as "under the eagle". Great little downstairs old school Polish place. The Polish plate is probably the most popular thing there (the kielbasa comes from Kowalski right down the street), but my personal favorite is the Hungarian pancake (spicy pork stew on a huge potato pancake). Great bar too- Polish beers and they have mead too! Definitely THE place for Polish food! Great beet soup too!

I arrived at about 11:45 on a Thursday and I beat the lunch crowd. I ordered the city chicken this visit which was delicious. I got the dill pickle soup to go because it's just too good not to get. This is a great representation of Polish food (I'm 100% Polish) in a cozy, friendly place. Walking downstairs to enter just adds to its legend. I definitely recommend you give it a try. Super reasonably priced.
