I visit the area a few times a year with my (soon -to-be-wife) whose family lives nearby. After finding little in the way of rentals online, I contacted Pops due to its location, and have been very impressed. Although they don’t currently have a formal rental fleet, Marc went out of his way to find something for me and went above a beyond to get me set up. This is going to be my shop in this area from here forward. It’s not a big shop, but they have all the essentials, including the desire to take care of people. Rad.

I placed an order for 2 Giant Hybrid bikes from Pops last weekend. I was told my bikes would be in by Thursday or Friday. I checked Thursday afternoon and was told my bike was on backorder. I would have thought I would be notified, but I wasn't. I picked another bike and I was told they would call me Thursday evening to let me know if it would be in on Friday. I didn't get the call, so I called Pops back on Friday. Again they said it wasn't in, but they would call me by the end of the day to tell me when it would be available, of course, no phone call. There are plenty of bike shops in central NJ, the shops that provide good customer service will survive. I called another shop, told them I'm buying 2 $450.00 bikes, a car carrier, 2 helmets, water bottles and miscellaneous accessories and I wondered if they would offer a discount. They said they would give me 10% off since I was buying so much, Pops had said no discount. You're a relatively new business, I'd say you need to step up your game. Nice people at Pops, but that only gets you so far. It's a shame, I live a few miles from Pops, but now I have to travel 15 or so miles whenever I need some accessories or service. Very frustrating... PS When you review the owners remarks below, please know he is lying through his teeth. I called two times and spoke to two of his employees, they both said the owner would call me back and he never did. I therefore shopped elsewhere and dealt with true, organized professionals.

Nice guys, nice BMX seleccion and other bikes as well. Probably the only store in nj that has GOOD bmx bikes there

A great local shop with personable staff. I have purchased 3 Giant bikes from them in the last 3 months, a Giant Roam 1 for myself , a Liv Fluorish for my wife and a Giant Cypress for my father. I even bring my BMC Teammachine and Giant TCR for service and mechanical upgrades. Mark and Rick are excellent mechanics, very personable and just love bikes and love people. My service experience has been that if you drop off your bike early at opening most of the time is ready in hours or days end. Works for me!! This is the shop staffed by the bike service team formerly at Effingers . As a business owner i understand the growing pains of startup and they done great and come a long way. Nice selection of Giant and Cannondale quality bikes as well as plenty for beach cruiser and BMX style bikes for the kids. They have done well be me as a customer and i appreciate having a good local shop to support! Thanks Mark and Pops Bike Shop Team.
