If you're not from NYC, you might get lost or scammed easy. There's a lot of people inside asking if you need help, just say no. Huge screens can help you find your bus and signs point you in the right direction. Just make sure to then also check the bus, because they can change as you get up to them! The shops inside are interesting, but not something you really want to stop at unless you don't have a choice. It's nice to have a hub for transport, but do your research and know where you're going if you're gonna do that.

The bus terminal is much cleaner and safer than it was in the 80's and 90's. There are several good places to grab a quick bite to eat, but if you're not getting on a bus or the subway, there is really no reason to pass through here. However, if you must, I recommend the Duane Reade. They have everything from aspirin to souvenirs to fresh fruit and snacks.

The bus terminal is well kept and gets you where you need to go. It has some good stores inside to grab food or other on the go products. I can see it being a bit confusing for people who are in a rush or have never been there. It's very easy to find help during the day but late nights can be hard. There's big touch screens to find the gate for your bus which is helpful. The screens some times don't list every gate for the bus you may be looking for.

Not the best bus terminal by any measure but it is very conveniently located in the middle of Manhattan. I take the bus very often to New Jersey and costs about $5 bucks. As with all buses, on Fridays and Saturdays, there's traffics everywhere. meaning you will be late to wherever you are going. Guaranteed. Would love to see a new bus logistical system to reduce the wait time. Maybe the display of when the next bus is coming in the waiting room would be super helpful.

For what it is, it's still a transportation mega hub. So many people and transport options go through here that it's amazing to me that it works at all. Of course it needs updating, of course it needs improvements. It wasn't designed to have this much capacity and like almost all infrastructure in the Northeast it is dramatically stressed past its limits. But for what it does, it is still an amazing organization and can get you almost anywhere for a reasonable cost if you are willing to wait.
