I'm not sure if this is the right place to place this review, but I was totally bullied by a police officer in Preston. After planning a short get-away to meet a friend in Ct for two nights, I was called into my job at a detox facility and had to leave after work at 11 pm. I drove my usual route and came upon a road block with very distracting bright lights, and a harsh blinding white light. It impaired my vision and I hit a cone during this blindness. This officer McElroy yelled and screamed at me, treated me like a common criminal, and accused me of using alcohol or narcotics, when I had just left a job where we treat substance abuse. He kept ranting about his cone, as if I had run over his first born. I'm a sixty-three year old woman who drives below the speed limit and I was polite and compliant. I have no offenses on my driving record. I was looking forward to a nice get-away after a week of hard work and caring for elderly parents, but this horrible person reduced me to tears and gave me a 132 dollar ticket. Another woman walked up to his car for directions, and said he was also rude to her, so she came to me to find out how to get out of this jam. I didn't know an alternate route and this awful man gave me really unclear directions and I didn't arrive at my hotel until 2:30 am. It is no wonder there is a climate of mistrust for police officers, when good people are treated this harshly for a simple mistake. I feel bad for his spouse if he's lucky enough to have one to put up with his brutal nature. If forced to pay this ticket, it is just less money I can spend with the good merchants in Ct.
