Seems to me that that there are more negative reviews than positive ones. While at Gulfcoast hospital , I was told not to come to this facility. I can see why. We know someone that works there, and they told us to stay away from this hospital. As a patient leaving the hospital, I was not comfortable making this facility my home for the next two months. I will say that I had a great experience at another facility in Naples. Although I was not a patient at Promise, I can promise that I will not recommend this hospital to anyone. This hospital has an unsavory reputation in the community.

Hospital staff often fail to feed older patients properly, get them out of bed enough or control their pain adequately. Been at his bedside for two weeks 12 hrs a day and yet to meet his attending physician. Doctors walk in without introduction and have no conversations with the patient or family. Caregivers do not communicate nor do they chart changes in patient care. Interrupted sleep, unappetizing food and days in bed with promised PT that never occurs. Nurses complaining all day about their co-workers and their work load. Isolation practices not consistently followed. Tried to work through my concerns with the local administration (Ft Myers) to no avail. No phone call returned. Sorry Promise tried to give you the opportunity to address my concerns. You may want to rethink the name of your hospital and call it "False Hope".

In reading some of the negative review I am completely confused. My father in law was in Promise for about 10 days, I felt this was the most attentive staff that we have had in any hospital. I only wish that we had gone sooner, he was transferred from another hospital that rarely came into the room. He passed while he was there, not due to his care but due to his condition. I would highly recommend Promise... This issue with reviews are, if you are mad you to tell everyone, because anger has a bigger voice. Please go see this place for yourself, a very welcoming and friendly place where my father in law received excellent care.

My wife was admitted to Promise Hospital, Ft Myers on July 18 after spending 47 days in the ICU at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. Promise Hospital was recommended to us by a Pulmonary Doctor in Tampa, FL. He assured us Promise would be successful in weaning my wife off the ventilator and restore her health to the point she would be ready for a rehab facility to restore her strength and motor skills. Our AeroCare Medical Ambulance was late in arriving in Ft Myers and we didn't get to the hospital till after 8 PM. Upon our arrival we were met by one of the heads of the hospital, Bobby Sauer, who stayed late and took us on a tour of the hospital and gave the ICU staff time to get my wife settled in. From the time we arrived, the staff and doctors here have exceeded our expectations. The staff included me in the "rounds" every morning and always asked for and listened to my input as they weaned her off the ventilator and nursed her back to health. What I found to be very reassuring was the way during morning rounds Dr Bravo (Pulmonary Dr) always listened to the different department heads opinions and suggestions for treatment. They were many instances where the heads of Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy or Nutrition would disagree with Dr Bravo and after discussion a concensus was reached. There are no "egos" that I ever saw and the whole organization operates as a "team"! Promise has a program where on most days a department head stops in to insure everything was going to our satisfaction. I would rate the quality of care and treatment at Promise being equal to or even better than what we received at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. I would be remiss if I did mention the Respiratory Therapists, X-ray Techs, Physical Therapists. Kitchen Staff, Nurses and CNA's who have done all the "heavy lifting" in my wife's recovery. They were all technically skilled and ven if they don't have Sue assigned to them, most all of them poke their heads in to her room to see how she is doing. These people really care about their patients - you won't be a room or bed number here - you are a person and that goes for the family as well as the patient. We are fortunate to have had Doctors Bravo, Shetty and Gutstein overseeing Sue's treatment. They all get A+ grades from us! One other thing you will notice is that Patrick Ryan, the CEO of this hospital is always walking the halls and stops in to make sure everything is going well. We can only hope we receive the same quality of care as we transfer to the Rehabilitation Hospital at Lee Memorial. In closing, we can't say enough good things about Promise Hospital. We will be leaving Promise sometime next week and it will be a sad day!

To anyone thinking about putting a loved one in this place..PLEASE reconsider. My father was sent here from Cape Coral Hospital to get weaned off of a breathing device but he never made it out. He was there for approximately 3 weeks and during that time we saw 4 people die there and a very young man almost die. Thank God his mother was smart enough to get him out of there after my Dad. We rarely saw the doctor and the nursing staff were far from professional healthcare personnels. One of the nurses, 26 yrs old, did not know how to put his bipap mask on...my mom had to show her. Dr Bravo is an egotistical heartless man and I will never forget how disappointed his voice was and the look on his face when my dad's pulse was still strong. My dad went from 90 percent chance of living to being gone forever. We did not expect that at all. Promise Hospital is not a place you want your loved one in. I cannot express how shocked and disappointed we are.
