Hiked here a few times. Seen porcupines, collared lizards, squatch and deer. Coyotes howl in the night. Be careful night hiking with a headlight... Bats will rip it from your face. The entire park oozes romance.

State park that you can just walk on. They could improve the mowing but the would negatively affect the natural fauna and wildlife. We saw deer and turkey throughout the course. If you want manicured, this is not your place. Only negative: they should improve car paths.

Place needs lots of tender loving care and clean up and FIXING. This place is a gem, it now has water full to the brim for second year in a row, but the hotel, restaurant inside and all of the cabins need so much improving. There is a very expensive price on everything for a weekend and yet it's run down and hasn't been taken care of for years. The grounds keeper's run over the lighting while mowing and didn't even pick up the trash that was left behind from running over the lighting. For the place to improve, the management needs to care in their heart for this place and insist that their employees actually work to fix things and make it a great resort that it's supposed to be now that there is water again. There is a family that have had reunions for over 60 years at this place, but since they are treated crappy every year and reservations are never a for sure thing and cabins aren't reserved and taken care of properly for the cost this family WON'T be back. 60 years of poor treatment and you've run the Nix family off. They gave you 60 years of business to be treated very poorly.

Its really beautiful here. I hike here quite a bit and love the scenery and local wildlife. A must stop place while visiting Altus or the nearby town of Blair.

Beautiful resort but seemed a bit pricey for everything but the location certainly paid off. Cool hikes everywhere. Quartz mtn hike itself was great. Front desk was very knowledgeable of area. Close to an AFB too.
